Yes, I support special elections. It is undemocratic for central committees to have primary responsibility for vetting and nominating appointees to vacant seats. Maryland should follow the lead of other states that have long established the practice of holding special elections. Central committees should only be able to nominate interim appointees until a timely special election, which should be mandated to take place within a reasonable amount of time after a vacancy occurs such as 90-120 days.
For as long as central committee members have the responsibility of choosing nominees (since the governor makes appointments and can override a committee’s recommendation), I will consider each candidate’s ability to serve successfully, represent their constituency, and advance policies that support human dignity, civil rights, and social justice.
As a disabled, transgender, and Chinese Jewish Marylander, I want to encourage Democratic party members and leadership to do better, especially for people in marginalized communities. Party leadership can do much more to advance needed policies to protect immigrants, disabled people, Native people, transgender people, and workers; and divest from AI data centers, exploitative real estate developers, Israeli apartheid and occupation, and arms companies that violate international humanitarian law.
For as long as central committee members have the responsibility of choosing nominees, I will prioritize supporting candidates who show strong connections to their communities and who care about effective policy development and constituent support over their personal advancement and gain.

Yes, I support special elections when possible because voters deserve a voice in choosing their representatives. As a Baltimore County resident and community leader, I believe democracy works best when the people decide. If timing requires a Central Committee appointment, transparency and community input must guide the process.
I would prioritize candidates with integrity, community ties, and a track record of service. As a social worker and business owner, I value leaders who understand working families, economic opportunity, and public safety. The person should reflect district’s values and demonstrate the ability to serve effectively from day one.
As a 43-year-old Black woman, single mother, business owner, and licensed clinical social worker, I’ve dedicated my career to serving families. I want to bring that same commitment to the Central Committee—ensuring our community has strong representation, supporting fair policies, and helping develop leaders who truly understand the needs of Baltimore County residents.
I would engage community stakeholders, review candidates’ experience, and prioritize transparency. My decisions would focus on who can best represent district’s residents, work collaboratively, and address real community concerns—education, economic growth, and family stability. The goal is always leadership that reflects and serves the people.
Yes. I support special elections to fill vacancies in the General Assembly but, voters should ultimately decides who represents them.
When choosing someone to fill a vacancy for the Maryland General Assembly, I would prioritize community involvement, integrity, and a strong understanding of the district issues. The candidate should should demonstrate public service, values, and effective representation to be chosen.
I want to serve on the Central Comittee to help strengthen our party and ensure our community is well represented. As a young Democrat I believe it is important to engage the next generation in the political process. I want to support civic engagement, civic participation, and build a stronger future for our district.
To ensure appointment decisions serve the best interest of the community, I would prioritize transparency, community input, and careful evaluation of each candidate’s experience and commitment to public service.
