I will continue to advocate for Special Elections. I strongly believe voters in our community—not political insiders—should choose their representation. The current appointment process is undemocratic and ripe for corruption.
I will only support candidates who are committed to racial and economic justice, who acknowledge the dire threat of the climate crisis, and who believe that healthcare, housing, quality education, attainable retirement, and living wages are human rights. Our communities deserve progressive champions that are transparent, accountable, and reflective of our community’s diversity.
Amid the resurgence of fascism in the United States, the Democratic Party needs more fighting spirit and political courage. It needs more coalition building and community organizing. It needs more accountability, honesty, and integrity. I’m proud of my record in the past four years of organizing to beat Republicans, boosting youth political engagement, and speaking truth to power within the party infrastructure. There is more work to be done and I hope to earn your vote!
I will only vote to appoint proven grassroots community leaders who aren't backed by developers, police unions, and/or corporations. I will also not support conservative/moderate democrats for appointments.

I support the current system in which a vacancy in General Assembly is filled by a party committee appointment until the next general election. This approach ensures that the district continues to have representation without the delay that would come from organizing a special election.

Special elections can be costly for counties and municipalities to administer, requiring additional resources for staffing polling places, printing ballots, and managing the election process.
When choosing a candidate to fill a vacancy, the most important criteria would be, if they are qualified to do the job. Have they been involved in their civic duties. I would look for someone with integrity, sound judgement and work well with their colleagues. Most importantly, I would look for the readiness to step into the role and serve effectively in their position from the day ONE!
I want to serve because this is an opportunity to serve my party, strengthen local engagement, to support our candidates who are committed to strong and fair governance and to contribute in building a strong effective organization that reflects the priority of our communities. I strongly believe in Boots on the ground strategy of the Central Committee.
As this is my re-election for the same seat, I have participated in appointments in Delegate vacancy for District 8 of MD. I have always carefully evaluated candidate's qualification and commitment, a candidate who demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with others have always been my priority for the appointment decisions.
