Yes, I do support special elections to fill the vacancies in the Maryland General Assembly.
I will measure a person's education, knowledge, and experience when I decide to select someone for a vacancy. I would prefer to select someone who is willing to work across the aisle in order to get the work done and someone with a proven track record of organizing and serving the people they're elected to represent.
I want to serve on my party's central committee because I want to create strategies that help to foster better party unity. I have an extensive experience as an organizer for the state of Maryland, for the NAACP Randallstown Branch, in the nonprofit sector, and for elected officials. I want to support the work that my legislators in my district are doing by hosting forums that showcase the responsibilities of each local and state agency here in Maryland.

Absolutely. Voters deserve a direct say in who represents them. Special elections promote transparency and accountability by ensuring that voters—not party insiders—choose their representatives. While special elections carry a cost, making sure our legislature reflects the will of Marylanders is a worthwhile investment in the strength of our democracy and our communities.
I believe anyone appointed to the General Assembly should have a strong record of community engagement, a clear understanding of their district’s needs, and broad policy knowledge. I would look for someone who has demonstrated integrity and ability to work effectively with colleagues to deliver results. Because appointees often must soon run for election, I would also consider whether a candidate is prepared to campaign and compete effectively, especially in districts with Republican opposition.
I’m honored to serve as Second Vice Chair of the Central Committee and am seeking a second term to continue the progress we’ve made. Our party must stay connected to everyday voters. Too often there’s a gap between national talking points and what I hear speaking with voters at the doors. I want to ensure our party stays focused on the issues county residents raise most: safe neighborhoods, rising costs of food and healthcare, and families’ ability to stay in their homes as property taxes rise.
I believe the best appointees are those who have built real relationships in their communities, one kitchen table conversation at a time, and who come in with knowledge across key policy areas such as economics, education, and public health. That foundation helps ensure they are well-positioned to advocate for the needs of their constituents. Most importantly, I would look for someone driven by a genuine desire to fight for their community and get things done for the people they represent.

I believe voters should have a meaningful voice in choosing their representatives. Special elections can strengthen public trust by allowing residents to directly select who represents them. However, when vacancies occur during legislative sessions, timely representation is important. I support exploring options that expand voter participation while ensuring districts remain represented.
I would look for candidates with strong ties to the community, integrity, and a demonstrated commitment to public service. Important factors include community involvement, understanding the district’s needs, ability to collaborate, and a record of advocating for residents while representing the interests of the entire community.
I am motivated to serve because strong communities require leadership that listens and remains connected to the people it represents. Through my work advocating for workers and helping individuals navigate challenges, I have seen how important it is for people to have someone willing to speak up for them and ensure their voices are heard
To ensure appointment decisions serve the community’s best interests, I would review each candidate’s record of service, leadership, and engagement with the district. I would also seek input from community stakeholders and prioritize individuals who demonstrate integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to representing all residents.

Yes, I support Special Elections for any seat of the Maryland Assembly that falls vacant during a legislative term, very much like the process followed for Congress.
I think the main criterion for anyone running for public office should be his/her desire to serve his/her community, not special interest groups. Since MGA legislates policies that effect all Marylanders, a person's prior experience in a public service institution, running a small business, or experience with a non profit organization always is a big plus.
I believe that as a Central Committee member I can help the Democratic Party be true to its principles of inclusion and openess for the needs and aspirations of all Marylanders, irrespective of their national origin, race, socio-economic status or religion.
I have been elected to this position 3 times in the past elections (2014, 2018, 2022) and if re-elected I will serve my 4th term. I have always made decisions based on the needs of my constituents and not any special interest groups in all these years.
