I do not. Appointments are literally one of the Central Committee's core functions. Special elections cost jurisdictions money AND seats can be left vacant for MONTHS at a time waiting for them to play out. Who wants to not have representation for a long stretch of time?
The person must have standing in the District where the appointment takes place. They must have a prior background in service; such as neighborhood association board, etc. The person also must be pro-choice and pro-immigrant.
I've co-chaired the Communications committee since 2022, been on the Executive Board and now District Chair. We've made REAL progress getting Democrats registered to vote and getting them to the polls.
We need representation from ALL sides of the District. Not just one cluster. So I would make sure that someone who is applying from Curtis Bay, Westport, Cherry Hill, etc would have just as much chance of getting appointed than someone from Southeast.

Yes, I believe that when a vacancy occurs far enough out from the registration deadline to allow for a fair election citizens ought to have the right to elect their representative. I believe that SB 5’s provision for a cut off 55 days prior to the filing deadline is a reasonable place to draw that line.
Vacancies should be filled by individuals with broad community support who are most representative of their prospective constituency. Consideration should be given to age, race, gender, orientation, class and ethnic background when selecting a replacement.
As a life-long Marylander, 10 year resident of district 46 and a new father I am highly motivated to see our city and state live up to its potential. I want to be part of growing a party that uplifts working class people of all backgrounds and protects the rights of marginalized folks who are increasingly under attack by the current federal administration. I have experience volunteering working on local campaigns. I believe I have valuable skills to contribute and am eager to learn.
Engaging with neighborhood associations, local non-profits, religious groups and other community organizations for recommendations and input can help make for transparent and fair appointments. The ideal candidates to fill a vacancy will be well known and respected in the wider community.
