I support the current role of the Central Committee in filling vacancies in the General Assembly. At its core, the Central Committee is made up of individuals who are deeply connected to their communities and who understand the needs, concerns, and leadership qualities that constituents want to see in their representatives. The close relationship with the community, Central Committee is well positioned to identify candidates who can effectively step into the role and continue serving.
When considering a candidate to fill a vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly, I would prioritize individuals who have demonstrated commitment to the community and a clear understanding of the district they represent. It is important that the person selected has a proven record of service, integrity, and the ability to effectively advocate for the needs of constituents in Annapolis.
I want to serve on the Central Committee to help strengthen the connection between the Democratic Party and the community. Through my work in community engagement and youth mentorship, I’ve seen how important it is for residents to feel heard and represented. Serving on the Central Committee allows me to support strong leadership, encourage civic participation, and help identify leaders who are committed to serving our communities and moving our district forward.
To ensure appointment decisions serve the best interest of the community, I would prioritize candidates with a proven record of community service, integrity, and engagement with residents. I would also listen to feedback from community leaders and constituents to understand their priorities. By focusing on individuals who are connected to and trusted by the community, we can ensure the appointment reflects the needs and values of the district.

Yes, I support this fully. Since 2022 I’ve personally voting to fill in the past. I believe that we should always have to fill positions needed.
I’m currently elected for the 40th district State Central Committee. In the past we’ve organized together to do community research on individual applying.
I’m running for re election to help with the mission to register voters and get more people involved with legislation.
I believe proper research in the candidates community & current work will help with the selection process.
I do not support special elections to fill vacancies.
1. Visibility and work done in the community
2. Knowledge of the community and needs of the community
For the past 6 years(I was appointed in 2019), I have registered over 100 voters, knocked doors for several candidates and participated in voter education and outreach events. I would like to continue doing this work as a central committee member.
I will be as objective as possible when selecting an appointment and select the candidate who has served and will best serve the community.

The person should have some relevant work experience. Someone who is honest, has strong personal ethics. A person able to work with others and able to compromise understanding what our system is built on. Someone who has the best interest of our communities and has demonstrated work performed in the community.
This will be my fourth term as a Central Committee member. I am dedicated to our task of educating and registering people to vote. Explaining the importance of voting. I have held and participated in numerous voter registration drives at special events, churches, schools, etc. Also to continue the work of getting our Democratic candidates into public office. This is a position you have to be committed to and I am.
As a voter we all have the responsibility of seeing that our elected officials are held accountable. We know our communities, the concerns, issues and we should look at that when making that selection to ensure that accountability. Noting persons who have worked in the community and actually know the community. Being honest in your selection choice.

If special elections become law in Maryland, I will support them. Representation should be decided by the people whenever possible, and special elections help ensure that the community’s voice and will are reflected in who serves them.
I will focus on selecting the best candidate for the job by seeking community input through surveys and listening carefully during interviews. A proven track record, demonstrated body of work, and a commitment to strengthening Baltimore and our state—combined with community feedback—will guide my decision.
“Working today for a tomorrow we deserve” is the principle that guides my work. I am motivated by organizing people and partnerships that move our communities forward. Serving on the Central Committee would allow me to continue working directly with the people, organizing alongside our communities to strengthen our party and build a better future.
I will prioritize direct community input through surveys, forums, and organized listening events. Remaining accessible and accountable to residents is essential. By actively engaging the community, I will ensure their voices are represented at the table and that every appointment decision reflects the best interests of the people we serve.

No. Maryland is not in a financial position to hold special elections every time a seat becomes vacant in the General Assembly. The current process allows the local Central Committee to appoint someone to finish the remainder of the term, which ensures the district continues to have representation without the added cost to taxpayers. Given the financial realities facing the state, it is more responsible to use the existing appointment process rather than spend public funds on special elections.
I will look for someone who has integrity, is committed to public service, and understands the needs of the district. I will consider their involvement in the community, their ability to work with others, and their willingness to listen to and represent the people they serve. The goal is to choose someone who will act responsibly and serve the community well.
I want to serve on the Central Committee to help ensure our party remains connected to the community and responsive to the people it represents. I believe in strengthening local leadership, supporting qualified candidates, and helping build a party that reflects the values and needs of our neighborhoods. I am committed to service, collaboration, and advancing opportunities for our community.
I will listen to constituents and community leaders before making any decision. I do not assume I have all the answers. It is important to hear directly from the people affected, co-produce solutions with the community, and consider candidates who understand local needs. I will also collaborate with members of the General Assembly to ensure the appointment reflects the best interests of the district.
