I support special elections. Legislative seats belong to the voters, so the community, not a small group, should make the decision.
I would look for someone who knows the district and has shown a commitment to public service. They should be honest, willing to work with others, and open to listening to residents. The most important thing is choosing someone focused on doing the job well.
I want to serve on the Central Committee to be a part of shaping the party and helping more people get involved in the democratic process. I want to help recruit and support candidates, organize volunteers, and help keep the local party connected to the community.

Yes. We should make an interim appointment under the existing process, but then hold a special election to coincide with the next regularly scheduled election to fill the vacancy. Ideally, the interim appointee would be ineligible to run in the special election. This would make the General Assembly more responsive to voters, while simultaneously minimizing the additional costs of special elections.
Having served on the Central Committee through multiple appointments, I have always voted for the candidate I believed best qualified to serve our communities, whether in the legislature or the Central Committee. Criteria I’ve used to judge candidates for appointment have included: impact, qualifications, track record, trustworthiness, and their stated motivation for applying to the position. I have also carefully weighed community feedback on all applicants.
I am proud of the work I’ve done to grow engagement in our Democratic party here in Anne Arundel County - from candidate recruitment, to community events, to supporting our elected officials, I’ve seen firsthand how a strong and responsive, local party can inspire civic participation in our election process. Particularly of note, this is the first year in over 8 years that we have Democrats running for each role in District 31. I look forward to continuing to represent District 31 on the AACDCC.
A core part of the appointment process is considering public feedback submitted in response to the applicants. Additionally, one thing that sets the AACDCC's process apart is that it is done in full transparency and in compliance with the Open Meetings Act. Ensuring faith and trust in the process is best served through transparency, as Justice Louis Brandeis once wrote, "Sunlight is said to be the best disinfectant."

Yes. When a vacancy occurs in the General Assembly, voters deserve the opportunity to choose who represents them. Special elections strengthen democracy, increase transparency, and ensure representatives have a clear mandate from the people they serve. As a candidate and sitting member of the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee, I support giving voters a direct voice in selecting their representatives.
I consider a candidate’s voting record, commitment to Democratic values, and their presence and engagement in the community. It is important that the person has a proven record of service, listens to constituents, and understands the needs and priorities of the district they will represent.
I serve on the Central Committee to strengthen community engagement in the Democratic Party and ensure our local leadership reflects the needs and voices of the people we serve. Through my work in public service and workforce development, I have seen how policy impacts everyday lives. I want to help build a more inclusive, responsive party that supports strong candidates and meaningful community connections.
I will ensure my decisions serve the community by focusing on candidates with a strong record of public service, community engagement, and commitment to Democratic values. I believe in listening to residents, considering the needs of the district, and selecting individuals who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a willingness to work collaboratively to serve the people they represent.
