Data centers are essential infrastructure, powering healthcare, finance, the broader digital economy, and more. Rapid growth, however, strains the power grid, increases costs for ratepayers, and can hinder progress toward clean energy goals. They also have significant environmental impacts, including high water use. I support additional development only with strong guardrails that protect residents, ensure responsible energy use, and deliver meaningful community benefits.
Utility costs are rising due to PJM market volatility, costly transmission upgrades, and limited in-state generation. I’m working to accelerate Maryland-made energy, strengthen oversight, rein in unnecessary utility spending, address excessive executive compensation, and improve the retail energy market to ensure real competition and protect consumers.
Yes. Expanding reliable, affordable public transportation is essential to reducing congestion, lowering household costs, supporting economic growth, and connecting people to jobs, schools, and healthcare. We should modernize transit, improve frequency and reliability, expand service where needed, and promote transit-oriented development so housing and jobs are better connected to transit.
My top priorities are affordability, protecting our most vulnerable - especially seniors, individuals with disabilities, and children - and strengthening our economy. I have fought to lower costs for families, including energy and healthcare, while safeguarding investments in education, public safety, and critical support services. I also support strategic investments in infrastructure and workforce development, paired with strong oversight to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently.
Immigrants are vital to Maryland’s communities and economy. I support a balanced approach that protects public safety and constitutional rights. We are seeing federal tactics that create fear and erode trust, which is why I’ve supported measures to strengthen transparency, limit 287(g) agreements, and ensure accountability. We can uphold the rule of law while protecting due process, dignity, and strong, safe communities.
