As a nationally known data expert, I do not support the establishment of monolithic data centers. While these facilities bring some economic revenue, they vastly overpromise on jobs, raise utility costs, damage the environment, lower property values, and represent long-term industrial development. I support innovation in this space to bring small-scale computing power to our region to protect its natural resources, putting the community first and last in any discussion on data centers.
Increased demand, production capacity, and a dated power infrastructure all contribute to rising costs. For Maryland to remain competitive we need to invest in grid modernization and increase electricity production using sources that provide relief NOW, not in 10-15 years. An example of innovation in this space could be renewables (solar, wind, wave) that also provide good paying jobs. We should also consider a tiered rate structure so that those using more power (big business) pay more.
Public transportation equalizes opportunity between the "haves" and the "have nots," and it's particularly important in rural areas. Data clearly shows that reliable bus and train service provides compounding benefits over single family car use when consistently implemented. Public transportation also opens up opportunities for people to ride bikes or walk more, as it can be a reliable alternative transport. This could be paired with the development of more walkable spaces.
Education, Jobs, and Housing.

Funding education is the surest way to invest in future revenue growth. Fully fund public schools consistent with the Blueprint, expand educator recruitment, and improve wraparound services.

Fund education and promote MD small businesses by removing big-business loopholes in the corporate tax code, making us more competitive for local job growth and small businesses.

Bring solutions that have worked elsewhere to MD to build more mid-level and multi-use homes.
We are a Country of immigrants. New immigrants both do some of the hardest jobs in our state and are also one of the most entrepreneurial groups, starting many of the small business that drive our economy.

We should expand job training to all. The more opportunity a human is given, the more they will thrive, the more they will contribute to the tax base, and the safer our community will be.

We must also stand, with courage, for the civil rights of ALL humans with compassion and conviction.
