I do not Data Center construction. I believe the environmental impact in conjunction with the draw of power that ultimately will be passed onto residential consumers is highly problematic. I do not believe that we should be building technology that will ultimately result in job losses for so many in our community. We are struggling to afford basic necessities as they are now. I believe we need to invest in activity that advances humanity, I do not believe data centers advance such a cause.
My opponent in this race sponsored Senate Bill 954. This bill would increase our electricity prices by allowing companies to build infrastructure and then passing the costs onto the consumer to recoup their investment. We need to increase electric cooperatives in our state to supply power to people in a democratic process. We need to have state-wide energy production that directly sells to these cooperatives to drive down prices. We need politicians who are not bought and paid for by companies.
If we are going to expand the population centers of our state and have a state where people need to travel for work, we should be investing in public transit. I believe projects such as Southern Maryland Rapid Transit Project (SMRT) should be funded. If Virginia can have their government employees in Woodbridge commuting to DC on daily trains, Maryland should be able to figure it out something as well. Public transit also assists in our ability to lower our greenhouse gas emissions.
I would like to increase our rainy day fund to 10% from the current 8%. I believe that given the Federal government cannot solely be relied upon for stability to our tax coffers.

I would also like to see investments that truly drive pricing down for people. Ideally in the energy and food sectors.

I would like to keep funding for our most vulnerable such as those with disabilities. I would like to insure we continue to fund medicaid, education, and transit.
Immigrants are vital to Maryland. It does not matter if you immigrated here like my family did in the 1650s or showed up last week. Immigrants in Maryland have a total spending power of 39.5 billion and paid 15.8 billion in taxes in 2023 according to the Comptroller's office. My question for those wishing to remove immigrants, is who is going to pay for the loss in tax revenue if they are gone? Immigrants deserve our respect, appreciation, and support. I will do everything I can to protect them.

I am concerned about the strain that data centers are placing on our resources. We need to make these data centers pay a fair amount for the resources they use.
Utility costs in Maryland are rising due to increased energy demand, aging infrastructure, regional market pressures, and the cost of transitioning to cleaner energy. I support stronger oversight of utilities, investments in modern infrastructure, and expanding diverse energy sources while promoting efficiency programs to help keep costs affordable for Maryland families.
Yes. Expanding and improving public transportation strengthens our economy, connects people to jobs, education, and healthcare, and reduces traffic congestion. We must invest in reliable, accessible transit options across the state so all Marylanders urban, suburban, and rural have safe and affordable ways to get where they need to go.
My top budget priorities are education, public safety, and economic growth. I will continue fighting for strong schools, resources for first responders, and investments that create jobs and support small businesses. We must balance the budget while protecting the services Maryland families rely on every day.
I have supported and continue support ending all state and local cooperation with ICE. I supported and voted to eliminating the 287G program.
