There are some circumstance where a data center may be appropriate. I do not support the proposal to bring one to the old Landover Mall. I supported the to study the impact of data centers on the grid and enviornment. I believe we need to more information to make infomred decisions until that time I do not support the establishment in the communities I represent.
Record high inflation has been plaguing every industry this combined with the demands on the grid are some of the factors that have contributed to the escalating ultitiy cost. I have voted for bills that provide rebates to rate payers, we have put a limit on how much utility company can pay their executives from the rate payers bill, and we have additional bills that we will be passing before session ends to bring down the cost to the ratepayers.
Yes, improving public transportation will help with the pressures we put on the environment.
Funding Education, Health Care and growing the economy. I have fought to maintaing funding for programs that our state has committed to including providing health care for the poor; education for all; and using our resources to be leverage business to come to Maryland.
As a member of the Latino Caucus & I have fought bills on the floor to protect immigrant communities in Maryland. We have passed the ban on 287g agreements which will allow our local law enforcment officers to focus on keeping us safe and not enforcing federal immigration laws. I have introduced a bill to ban private prisions from being allowed to operate in the state of Maryland so we can ensure that detainees are granted basic human dignity.

While data centers can generate some economic activity, their enormous energy demand, water usage, and land impacts threaten Maryland’s power grid, environment, and community health. I oppose the unchecked expansion of data centers. Our energy resources should prioritize residents and small businesses, not large industrial facilities that strain infrastructure and raise costs for families.
Utility costs are rising because of aging infrastructure, market volatility, and increased strain on the grid from high-energy industrial users. We must modernize our energy infrastructure, strengthen consumer protections, and expand efficiency and renewable energy. Maryland families should not be forced to subsidize excessive energy demand from large corporate facilities.
Yes. Maryland must improve and expand public transportation across the state. Reliable transit reduces traffic, supports economic growth, and helps working families reach jobs, schools, and healthcare. Strategic investments in regional rail, bus rapid transit, and modern infrastructure will strengthen our economy and make our communities more connected and affordable.
My top priorities are investing in strengthening public education and workforce development, transportation and infrastructure, and protecting programs that support working families. I will fight for responsible investments that expand opportunity, improve economic mobility, and ensure Maryland’s budget reflects the needs of our communities.
Immigrants are vital to Maryland’s economy and community life. I will support policies that ensure immigrant families have access to education, healthcare, and legal protections. I will work to expand language access, support immigrant-owned small businesses, and ensure state agencies treat every resident with fairness and dignity.
