I do not support the expansion of data centers. They can bring in tax revenue, but their energy, water, and land use impacts are too huge. If they do expand, I support strong statewide standards—requiring renewable energy use, water protections, grid upgrades paid for by developers, and meaningful community input. Maryland should prioritize projects that align with our climate goals and do not burden nearby communities.
Utility costs are rising due to reliance on fossil fuels, grid strain from large energy users like data centers, aging infrastructure, and insufficient consumer protections. Maryland must accelerate renewable energy, expand energy efficiency, strengthen oversight of utilities, and ensure high-consumption industries pay their fair share so residents are not subsidizing increased demand on the grid.
Yes. Public transportation should be expanded and improved across Maryland. Reliable transit connects people to jobs, education, and healthcare while reducing traffic and emissions. We should invest in more frequent service, regional connectivity, and transit access in underserved communities so transportation is affordable, reliable, and a viable option for more Marylanders.
My top priorities are: (1) fully funding public education and student support services, (2) expanding affordable housing and tenant protections, and (3) investing in healthcare access and public health. I will also support investments in transit and clean energy infrastructure that lower long-term costs and strengthen Maryland’s economic future.
As the daughter of immigrants, I know how important welcoming policies are. I support a pathway to citizenship and access to healthcare, education, and worker protections regardless of status. I’ve worked nationally with immigrant elected leaders and locally passed major reforms supporting immigrant students. In Annapolis I will fight for policies that protect immigrant families and ensure they can thrive in Maryland.

Yes, primary answer is that we need the revenue. This can be done by identifying areas in the state far enough from residential to minimize impact. We can require datacenters to bring their own power to minimize additional pressure on the grid and require a full impact and environmental assessment before anything is approved. Each data center should also be built with local labor unions and have a community impact benefit agreement, much like casinos, to prop up and support the local community
Years of regulation coupled with an outdated grid system and unachievable climate goals. These need to be decoupled and assessment independently to determine the optimal path to modernize our grid, increase generation capacity, while minimizing the costs to rate payers. We continue to pay for initiatives like "EMPOWER" of which we have over $300M in debt service to repay. Use the SEIF funds to provide permanent relief.
Yes, and this is consistent with our goal of reducing emissions.
1) Education and fully funding the Blueprint for Education 2) Funding for our disabled community and their supports 3) Identifying new revenue.
As I continue to do ... support SB 245 which deals with 287(g) and barring local law enforcement agencies from entering into immigration enforcement agreements with the federal government.
