Having grown up where elections were neither free nor fair, and served overseas in nine countries, I have witnessed and therefore know what a compromised election looks like. Voting over days instead of just one day raises accountability questions. High turnout in a system people do not trust is not democracy. I support the Restoring Faith in Elections Act — photo ID, paper ballots, restricted mail-in voting — so every legitimately cast vote is protected and the result is trusted and accepted.

As an immigrant who spent years at a US embassy deciding who gets a visa and who does not, knowing the cost of jumping that line - keep the border closed. Deportations must be professional and humane. Legal immigration needs a complete overhaul. Who does America want to admit, and why? That is the nuanced conversation my experience uniquely equips me to have in Congress.

America's role is to lead; the default of being a superpower. The question is what the audience sees. Working on global women's health policy across 40 nations, I speak regularly with diplomats and senior foreign officials. What they see matters. American influence and interests depend on trust, strength, relationships. An interconnected world will work with whoever shows up without ideological baggage. China is continually showing up, diminishing America's role, something that must be stopped.
Seniors, children living in poverty, and especially the disabled deserve a fraud free system first — every dollar lost is stolen from someone who genuinely needs it. I will protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid without cuts. Systems should not penalize people for trying to improve their situation. I believe that voting rights and free and fair elections are the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. That’s why I’ve supported legislation such as the For the People Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Act to expand voter access, strengthen oversight of voting systems and election technology, prevent voter suppression, promote transparency in election administration and reduce the influence of dark money in politics.
I do not support the current administration’s approach to enforcing federal immigration laws. In Maryland and all over America, masked federal agents have been indiscriminately rounding up immigrants and regularly intimidating, arresting, harassing and kidnapping people in our streets. I remain committed to ending this reign of terror and forging a bipartisan path forward to rebuild our broken system and provide meaningful pathways to lawful immigration.
The administration's billionaire tax cuts and cost-increasing tariffs have made life unaffordable for most Americans. That’s why I’m fighting hard to expand federal rental assistance and affordable housing programs, lower prescription drug costs and cap out-of-pocket health care expenses, reduce household costs through child care subsidies and family tax credits, raise the federal minimum wage and strengthen oversight of government spending to ensure taxpayer funds are used responsibly.

I support making Election Day a federal holiday, requiring REAL ID for voter identification, and limiting mail-in voting to active-duty military overseas and citizens with documented disabilities. In-person voting with proper ID creates a verifiable transaction with full chain of custody. A federal holiday eliminates access barriers, reduces costs, and produces results Americans can trust on election night.
We are in an immigration crisis. Unvetted individuals, including violent criminals, gang members, cartel operatives, and traffickers, have entered our country unlawfully and been given priority over citizens. I support halting immigration until we identify and remove dangerous individuals already here. I am pro-legal immigration but will support stricter vetting standards going forward to ensure we welcome non-violent, pro-American future citizens.
As America grows more affordable, current leadership burdens Maryland families with high taxes and regulations. I’ll support cutting wasteful spending, slashing taxes and housing rules to lower property taxes so homes are affordable, achieve energy independence via domestic oil, gas, and nuclear to lower costs in groceries and childcare, and enforce healthcare price transparency for true market competition.
America First embodies strength through leadership, not isolationism. I advocate demanding NATO allies fulfill their 2% defense spending commitments to ensure fair burden-sharing. We must pursue reciprocal trade deals that mirror partners' tariff rates, and achieve energy dominance to provide allies alternatives to Russian and Middle Eastern oil, thereby undermining hostile regimes. A thriving, self-reliant America stabilizes global order.
I will protect Social Security and Medicare. These are earned benefits. Facing depletion by 2033-203, I support raising the payroll tax cap, growth to expand workforce, and Medicare transparency and fraud prevention to extend solvency without cutting benefits.
