DUTIES: The Register of Wills assists the general public with administrative processes concerning estates of deceased persons. The Register collects Maryland inheritance tax on estates and probate fees; maintains all records of wills and estates of deceased persons; acts as clerk to the Orphans’ Court; and safeguards wills of living persons who reside in the county.SALARY: $134,899.TERM: Four years, no term limit.HOW ELECTED: Elected countywide.

My service as Register of Wills has given me extensive, practical experience. I am responsible for overseeing estate administration and probate proceedings. This work demands accuracy, transparency, and an understanding of law, public records, and customer service — all skills that directly strengthen my readiness for this office. While we do not give any legal advice, knowledge of the law is important.
This combination of administrative leadership, legal process knowledge, and hands on public service has prepared me to carry the responsibilities of this office with professionalism, fairness, and a commitment to serving the community.
