As a coastal scientist, I am committed to the responsible stewardship of our county’s natural environmental needs. My work as a scientist prepares me for problem-solving to address diverse needs and responsibilities. I believe in the importance of government for the people, and will do my best to use my platform and influence to effect positive changes for the working and middle class. I am from a 10th-generation eastern shore family, which uniquely qualifies me to understand the area and the people that live here. My perspective as a younger candidate will allow me to connect to younger voters. I have 8 years of higher education experience, and will bring that expertise to the table when deciding on policy objectives. Thank you!
Protection of public land and natural resources Expansion of public land for public use (recreation, common spaces, etc.) Beautifying public spaces Making localities more walkable and pleasant to inhabit Rejecting the encroachment of irresponsible development, such as data centers or large polluters Protecting water rights and making community drinking water safer for everyone by holding businesses and factories accountable for their waste Prioritizing both the redevelopment of already existing housing and the development of new affordable housing and minimizing urban sprawl Championing a county-operated shelter for unhoused people to provide care and support as they re-enter society
Protect our local waterways from pollution Opening a county-run health clinic that serves all residents at no or low cost A county-wide plastic and styrofoam ban to reduce the toxic ingestion of microplastics Partnership with state and federal health agencies to encourage nurses and doctors to work in the community Free or low-cost vaccine events throughout the county to increase accessibility and reduce the risk of infection, alongside a county-led initiative against anti-vaccine misinformation Establishing a county-run pharmacy that will provide medications at low or no cost to residents in spite of the closing of national chain pharmacies in the area County run co-operative grocery store with organic locally sources food
Through a county conservation corps model, promote a county-led initiative to remove invasive species and plant native species in the county, creating jobs and improving the quality of our local county’s environment The several county health initiatives I have proposed will provide a significant amount of jobs for medical, psychiatric and social workers. Improve the quality of the existing roads without expanding highway development Hiring part- or full-time park workers to manage the county’s vast network of parks and public lands Housing repairs (bricklayers, masons, etc.) Increasing funding for libraries to hire more part and full-time staff Increasing public transport for more economic growth and stable jobs and transport
discount Programs for new homeowners that get their mortgage loans from local banks Increase county-funded public housing Take advantage of state and federal subsidies to provide low-cost housing to people most needing housing Use county-owned public housing to drive down rents by freezing county rental rates Build sustainable and affordable housing for county residents Provide subsidies for mortgages to families who install solar panels or other sustainable energy sources Provide subsidies to local farmers who sell their products to local stores instead of big chain corporations Hire more county officials specifically tasked with helping residents locate affordable housing and providing short-term housing when necesssary
