I am prepared for this role through a combination of service, professional experience, and community involvement. As a Marine Corps veteran and graduate of Wor-Wic and Salisbury University, I bring discipline and leadership. As a parent of two children in public schools, I am personally invested in our education system. In my role as a community relations director and as a board member of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, I work closely with local leaders and businesses. My involvement with several nonprofits has given me a strong understanding of our community's needs. I have built meaningful relationships and am committed to working collaboratively to deliver practical solutions.
My priority is to ensure land use policies maximize existing assets while guiding smart, sustainable growth. We should encourage diverse development that includes housing, small business opportunities, and community-centered spaces. Projects should be evaluated based on how well they serve the broader community, not just short-term gains. By promoting responsible planning, preserving key resources, and ensuring balanced growth, we can strengthen our economy while maintaining the character and quality of life in our county.
Safeguarding and improving public health starts with prevention and access. We must continue strong funding for public schools, including health education and meal programs that provide quality nutrition to more than 15,000 students and their families in Wicomico County. At the same time, we should strengthen partnerships with the health department to expand supplemental programs that reach vulnerable populations. By improving access to care, supporting families at every stage of life, and focusing on early intervention, we can build a healthier, more resilient community for all residents.
Support small businesses and entrepreneurs through targeted incentives, resources, and access to capital. Partner with key economic drivers such as our airports, universities, poultry, and organizations like NASA to ensure their growth needs are met, creating higher-quality jobs across the Shore. Streamline permitting and reduce regulatory barriers within reason to make it easier for new and expanding businesses to invest locally. Focus on workforce development and infrastructure improvements to attract and retain employers.
Adopt intentional policies and incentives that encourage developers to build affordable housing, including density bonuses, tax credits, and public-private partnerships. Ensure growth is balanced by requiring or incentivizing affordable units as development expands. Preserve existing affordable housing and support first-time homebuyers. Prioritize smart land use and zoning reforms that increase supply while maintaining community stability.
