For the most part, yes.
How closely they align with the Party's objectives and their record of doing so.
To provide active support to getting Republican candidates elected.
Soliciting input from the community would be one way of doing so.

I do. It is our job to keep the County Government at full strength. We must come together to pick someone who represents the values of the County.
A person who has outstanding values and character. They must have courage and personal fortitude. Our citizens expect us to have their best interests.

Love of my birthplace Preservation of land lower taxes Freedom of speech within our local politics
I will never vote for an individual who does not hold the values of our County. There will never be someone who can sway my vote. I am doing this for our county!!! Nothing Else!
I want to see changes in the appointment process. Voters vote according to party affiliation/ideology. Appointments ensure that the results of the previous election (the will of the largest number of voters) remain in place until the next election. Special elections are costly; burden election staff; have very low turnout (activists see the potential to influence a few voters with greater effect); are time consuming, sometimes depriving voters of representation for part of legislative sessions.
I would look for someone who understands the time-tested values that need to be conserved, and also champions the innovative thinking that brings our community real progress. I would search for authenticity; a moral compass; demonstrated character; well informed on community issues, history of community service; active, empathetic listening; responsiveness; a community advocate; someone who has community support; a coalition builder; work skills and experience; a self-starter who executes well.
I want to get Republicans elected who are committed to good governance for all their constituents, regardless of party; build long lasting party effectiveness, especially among youth; help voters to be well informed and to engage in good-faith debate, help voters actively shape the electoral process and actively shape their government; increase support, encouragement, accountability and training for candidates and elected officials.
Make the process as transparent as possible; sitting committee members and currently running candidates cannot apply; publicize a list of criteria; encourage voter recommendations; include forum type interviews with voter questioning and opportunity for written comments; vet thoroughly; publicize results with the reasoning behind it; make the process reviewable by giving the governor more than one submission (nominate, not designate); the appointee should serve only until next general election.
