As a former special education teacher and a certificated parent educator with an MBA in Non-Profit Management, it is my core belief that strong schools build strong communities. District 1 deserves steady leadership, financial stewardship, and a representative who listens first and leads with integrity. Together, we can ensure Somerset County students receive the education they deserve.
Parents know their children best and should have a voice in their child’s education. When concerns arise about books or instructional materials, schools should respond with transparency and a fair review process. If a family objects to a specific resource, reasonable alternatives should be available so parents can guide what is appropriate for their own child.
Student mental health is essential to learning and well-being. Schools should ensure students have access to qualified school counselors and support staff who can identify challenges early and connect students with help. Strengthening counseling services, supporting staff training, and partnering with families and community resources can help ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.
Paying educators competitively is one of the most effective ways to ensure students have access to great teachers and strong programs. When schools can attract and retain high-quality teachers, counselors, and administrators, students benefit from stronger instruction and more opportunities. We should invest in our educators while ensuring resources, challenging courses, and support services are available to every student.
Competitive pay is key to attracting and retaining effective teachers and administrators. I support salaries and benefits that reflect their expertise and dedication, along with professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and a supportive work environment. When educators feel valued and supported, schools can maintain high-quality instruction and leadership for all students.
