CUSTOMER SERVICE: How will you maintain and improve service for the public?

During my 27 years in the Maryland State Police, I demonstrated a commitment to public service, as a road patrol trooper, criminal investigator, patrol supervisor, duty officer, and held command positions in multi-agency narcotics and intelligence task forces, to include the FBI’s joint-terrorism task force. I am a tested leader at the Circuit Court. For example, with help of my team, we have successfully implemented Maryland’s statewide electronic filing system in our courthouse. This involved transferring thousands of case files into a digital format to increase public access.
The Clerk of Court position is an elected position by authority of the Constitution of Maryland. The community needs to trust in the work of this essential institution. Our courthouse handles serious criminal and civil litigation, in addition to sensitive family and juvenile matters that have a far reaching impact on all of us. The nature of this work necessitates that our community is confident in the work of our office. It is a great honor to serve my fellow neighbors as Clerk of Court, while ensuring that this mission is fulfilled as efficiently as possible.
I strive to be elected on my integrity and character, and not on a specific political identity. This way I am able to focus on running an efficient, high performing courthouse. The Circuit Court for Somerset County also offers a free self-help legal clinic and a competitive internship program for interested high school and college students.
