With 32 years at the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and experience in every major division, I bring proven leadership and operational experience. As Sheriff, I have strengthened recruitment and retention, expanded training and officer wellness, upgraded body worn camera, reporting, and drone technology, and led data driven strategies that have helped reduce violent crime while improving accountability and public trust.
My goal is to continue building a modern, professional Sheriff’s Office focused on results, accountability, and service. I will continue to reduce violent crime, strengthen recruitment and retention, support employee wellness, expand training and technology, and implement our Strategic Management Plan to improve infrastructure and operations, ensuring effective public safety services for every community in St. Mary’s County.
Public safety depends on trust, transparency, and communication. My administration expanded outreach through public surveys, improved tip reporting, stronger partnerships with schools, businesses, civic groups, faith based communities, and other stakeholders. I will continue building responsive relationships with residents, increasing transparency, and working collaboratively with the community to prevent crime, solve problems, and improve quality of life for all of our citizens.
We use data driven policing, targeted patrol deployment, and strong partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. Since 2023, contact shootings, non-contact shootings, and armed robberies with firearms have all declined. Programs like Group Violence Intervention, enhanced traffic enforcement, and technology such as body worn cameras, drones, and improved reporting systems help us focus resources where they are needed most.
My top priorities are recruiting and retaining the best, highly qualified deputies, correctional officers, and professional staff; reducing violent crime through proactive, data driven policing; and modernizing the Sheriff’s Office through capital improvement projects, training, technology, and strong community partnerships to deliver effective public safety services, strengthen accountability, and maintain public trust across St. Mary’s County.
