I have over 20 years of experience in public safety. By advancing through every rank from Deputy to Sheriff, I have been involved with courtrooms, transportation, SWAT teams, civil and landlord-tenant issues, domestic violence intervention, commander for internal affairs, budget administration, and Bureau Chief of the largest bureau in the agency. I hold a B.A. in Criminology and an M.A. in Public Administration, both of which support my dedication to transparency and innovation.
Our primary challenges include breaking the cycle of domestic violence, rising youth-involved crime, and addressing the mental health crisis beyond enforcement. To address this, I have created and will continue to expand the Behavioral Health Unit to deliver specialized mental health care, ensuring that specialists are available to address citizens' needs. I will also continue the Warrant Apprehension Task Force to remove violent offenders from our community.
I launched the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy to give residents insight into our operations and created a Community Advisory Board to gather direct feedback. By expanding youth mentorship and increasing deputy presence at neighborhood events, we move from reactive policing to proactive partnership. My goal is for every resident to feel heard, respected, and protected by deputies who understand their community while prioritizing prevention, accountability, and strong community engagement.
My priorities are reducing violent crime through the Warrant Apprehension Task Force and strengthening public safety so residents feel safe at home and in their communities. Improving mental health response by ensuring trained specialists and deputies respond to mental health crises. Protecting vulnerable residents is another priority. We will educate seniors about elder abuse and scams; and expand youth mentorship, outreach, and programs that inspire and guide young people.
Transparency begins with clear policies and effective technology. I am committed to fully implementing body-worn cameras to provide objective records of all interactions. We use a data-driven approach to arrests, ensuring decisions are based on probable cause and public safety rather than bias. By publishing annual reports and hosting Town Hall meetings, I welcome public scrutiny. My office remains accountable to the law and the community, ensuring every arrest is documented, justified, and fair
