With 22 years in law enforcement, I rose to Chief Assistant Sheriff, overseeing operations, budgets, training, and professional accountability. I led nearly 400 employees, commanded critical incidents, and implemented policies that improved safety and trust. I hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice and completed Harvard Law School’s Police Union Leadership Program. I bring proven executive leadership, operational experience, and a commitment to community policing, ready to serve as Sheriff on day one.
I will recruit candidates with integrity, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to public service, ensuring the agency's demographic makeup reflects the community. Our outreach efforts will attract qualified applicants who strengthen community trust. Training will focus on de-escalation, constitutional policing, and crisis intervention. Safe, unbiased interactions will be reinforced through strong supervision, clear expectations, and ongoing professional development.
The biggest challenge is the collapse in morale and workplace culture, which has driven a staffing crisis and weakened performance. I will lead with integrity, clarity, and optimism, setting high standards while supporting the employees who meet them every day. I believe leadership is about inspiring excellence, listening with respect, and building a culture where all feel valued and empowered. Together, we will restore pride and deliver professional, compassionate service to the county.

As the 62nd Montgomery County Sheriff, and the first Asian-American to hold this position, I feel I am eminently qualified to continue serving as Sheriff. I have served with the Sheriff’s Office, since June 1994, serving in every Division within the Sheriff’s Office to include the Administrative Services, Civil & Criminal, Family, and Court Services Divisions. I have held leadership positions throughout the office, to include as Chief Deputy for the prior Sheriff before being elected in 2022.
The need for properly trained law enforcement officers is a priority for me. As Sheriff, I ensure that relevant, ongoing training that stresses de-escalation is provided through both entry level recruit and in-service classes. Additionally, I ensure that each prospective employee is thoroughly vetted and provided with clear expectations on how members of the Sheriff’s Office will treat residents, with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Staffing in the Sheriff’s Office continues to be one of the biggest challenges. This also presents a wonderful opportunity to grow the Sheriff’s Office with sworn and non-sworn members from our diverse community. As Sheriff I created an expanded recruiting team, attended more community and recruitment events than ever before throughout the region. This has been beneficial from a recruiting standpoint, as well as fostering increased trust with our immigrant communities in the Montgomery County.
