As a Dorchester County resident and small business owner of Elijah's General Store in Toddville Maryland , I understand the needs of our communities. My service as a firefighter/EMT in Anne Arundel, Caroline, and Dorchester Counties taught me crisis management, empathy, and communication. Work in corrections and a family tradition of military, law enforcement, fire, and EMS service—including family in the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office—has taught me that public service requires sacrifice
My priorities are responsible spending and protecting essential services while keeping taxes reasonable. I will vote no on any property tax increase during my four years in office. I will advocate for reducing or suspending property taxes on primary residences for owners over age 65, and for preventing tax sales or evictions for seniors or residents with terminal illness.
Dorchester County should encourage responsible development while protecting our rural character. We should renovate existing homes and explore solutions such as co-housing communities, modular and prefab homes for quicker construction, eco-village cooperatives, pocket neighborhoods with tiny homes, and themed living communities. We must have more flexibly about housing in a changing economy.
Dorchester County should support small businesses, agriculture, seafood industries, and tourism. I support lowering the cost of permits for primary residence homes and reducing licensing fees for locally owned businesses operated by county residents. Streamlining permits, improving infrastructure, and promoting investment will help create jobs and strengthen our local economy.
Dorchester must take practical steps to protect land and communities. This includes improving county drainage systems, digging out and maintaining existing ditches, strengthening shoreline protection, restoring marshland, and raising vulnerable county roads. Working with state and federal partners can help secure resources while ensuring local priorities guide these efforts.
My top priorities are strengthening the local economy, protecting Dorchester County’s land and water, and ensuring responsible government. I will work to uphold natural law and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Maryland, recognizing that our rights come from our Creator, not from government.
