Charles County Register of Wills
DUTIES: The Register of Wills assists the general public with administrative processes concerning estates of deceased persons. The Register collects Maryland inheritance tax on estates and probate fees; maintains all records of wills and estates of deceased persons; acts as clerk to the Orphans’ Court; and safeguards wills of living persons who reside in the county.SALARY: Salary is based on the size of the county and determined by the Maryland Board of Public Works.TERM: Four years, no term limit.HOW ELECTED: Elected countywide.

I have 16 years as the current Register. I bring over 30 years in real estate management, 20 years in the insurance industry and 9 years of prior management experience. I earned a Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland. I donate my time and talents to many activities in my community. I possess a passion and a love for helping folks in the community.
All folks are greeted with a smile, and the office is always decorated to lighten the mood of the individuals who are seeking our assistance. We encourage appointments when opening an estate so that we may give our full attention to the folks, but we will address the issues at hand of anyone who contacts us by either walking through our doors, emailing or calling us. We strive to help families during this difficult time.
I will continue to educate the public on the Estate process. I give presentations regularly to the young and old alike. I will go anywhere folks need me so that I can educate others about the Estate process. Our website has a magnitude of information and forms as well as referrals to other agencies that can be helpful(www.registers.maryland.gov). We have two Spanish speaking employees that help to translate as well. I am out in the community bringing information to all ages of folks.
