Charles County Clerk of the Circuit Court

DUTIES: The Clerk of the Circuit Court oversees the office that performs many administrative duties for the Circuit Court including the maintenance of court records. Other duties include recording of deeds and collecting taxes and fees based on property transactions, issuing licenses for fishing, hunting, sales of liquor and marriage. They also perform civil wedding ceremonies and process passport applications.SALARY: Salaries for Clerks of the Circuit Court salaries vary by the size of the county and are approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works.TERM: Four years, no term limit.HOW ELECTED: Elected countywide.

I bring 22 years of experience within the court system, working my way up from an entry-level role to Clerk in 2022. I have extensive knowledge of court operations, budget management, and oversight of an office with 47 employees and over $8 million in revenue.

My leadership roles in professional court organizations and 25 years of dedicated service as a Fire & EMS volunteer. These experiences reflect my strong commitment to public service, teamwork, and strong effective leadership.
One of the biggest challenges facing the Clerk of the Circuit Court is ensuring the office continues to meet the court's growing demands while maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and excellent customer service to the public. I will continue to work closely with the judges, court staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that procedures remain effective and responsive to the citizens of Charles County.
I'm proud to say that the Clerk's Office already operates with a strong commitment to efficiency, accuracy, and timely public service. Building on that foundation, I will continue to support staff development through ongoing training provided by the Judiciary, ensuring our employees stay current with procedures, technology, and best practices. Also, by monitoring performance, we can continue to deliver the high level of service citizens expect and deserve.
