DUTIES: The five-member Board of County Council Members and the County Executive make up the governing body of Cecil County. Council responsibilities include the following: confirming appointments made by the County Executive for individuals to head each principal operating department and for individuals to serve on boards, commissioners or committees; enacting the annual Budget and Appropriations Ordinance; levying the taxes required by the budget; and approving budget amendments.SALARY: $25,000TERM: 4 yearsHOW ELECTED: The election is county-wide, but each Council Member is required to live in his/her District. Terms are staggered.
