Yes, because direct representative elections are more constitutional and less political than appointments.
The criteria as outlined in State law, the current Bylaws for the MDGOP and the Carroll County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC).
To promote the conservative values of the Republican platform, especially the legal protection of human life from Conception to Natural Death (womb to tomb).

To promote Election Integrity, including voter ID, voter roll integrity, elimination of mail in ballots (not legitimate absentee ballots) and elimination of drop boxes, same day voting, minimizing police presence at polling places, promoting poll watchers, requiring election officials to draw the electioneering line as per State law.
By strict adherence to state law, MDGOP Bylaws and Carroll County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC) to give the community assurance of fair, impartial and non political appointment decisions.

I support special elections and the appointment of an individual. I do think it depends on the amount of time that is left to serve. For example, if it is more than half the term served, then the individual can be appointed (one year, nine months left). If the term left is more than 2 years, then a special election should be held.
The criteria could be how involved the individual is politically and in the community. The individual should be knowledgeable in the current political climate, community concerns, and local issues.
I want to actually be more vocal politically. While serving on the Board of Education, you are expected to keep your political beliefs outside of education decisions, whether you agree or disagree with the State Laws or policies. Serving on the CCRCC, I will be able to advocate and work more with political figures to change laws or have laws created to keep our communities safe. Local elections matter, and I want to ensure that everyone eligible to vote knows their vote and voice matter.
I do think an interview process is important. Any bias or favoritism should be put aside, and the best person should be chosen who will do the job that needs to be filled. While endorsements are helpful, they should not be the only reason an individual is chosen. I can ensure that I will always choose the best individual to fill a potential vacant position.
No. I believe this is an important function within our Constitutional system for the Central Committees to perform. Additionally, I believe a special election would unnecessarily expend resources for everyone, the taxpayer and candidates that would be vetted by the Central Committee.
Someone that exemplifies conservative convictions as well as having the aptitude to fulfill such roles dutifully.
250 years ago it was young Christian men that fought and died to create this country. My aim as a member of the Central Committee is the engage with that very demographic and encourage more participation in our local government. Additionally, as a Master Electrician, I believe the blue-collar community has much to offer and I want to grow participation by this sector. They love their community, often having deep roots here and they are stacked with common sense.
I was raised in Carroll, I’m raising my family in Carroll, and I have over four generations of my family that I knew and loved in this ground. My fidelity and love for this community is deep and I want it to be a place my eventual grandchildren call home, if they so desire. I believe I represent what is best to ensure that and stand firm when it comes to this community.

I support the current law as it stands. I intend to steward this responsibility as it exists and have no legislative pursuits to change this.
I would want someone who is hard working, principled, and well known in the community to serve and fill any potential vacancies.
I want to serve on the Republican Party Central Committee because I have been a lifelong Republican who has been active in local politics in Carroll County. I have put on forums and debates for candidates, fundraisers, and volunteered for various campaigns. I do not have grudges towards any current candidates or members of the committee and can get along with a historically divided committee rather than contributing to the division in the party.
The best way to ensure that appointment decisions serve the best interests of the community is to vet candidates for appointments not only through a thorough interview process but also by checking references, soliciting community feedback, and doing a thorough background check.
No.
The person must be pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment and believe marriage is one man/one woman. The person must be active in the Republican Party. The person must be willing to protect the Christian faith from government intrusion and persecution. The person must be willing to cooperate with ICE to remove illegal aliens from Maryland.
To keep the Carroll County Republican Party conservative, MAGA and Christian. To keep the Carroll County Republican Party pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment and keep the Republican Party in Carroll County the dominant party in both voter registration and elected office both partisan and non-partisan. To keep Carroll County under commissioner government.
By appointing people who have a long history in Carroll County and attend church in Carroll County. By appointing people who agree with the culture of Carroll County. By appointing people who agree with the words and sentiment of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

I do not believe it would be appropriate for a sitting member of the Carroll County Republican Central Committee to weigh in on whether an appointment should come from the committee, or through a special election. Under current law, appointing General Assembly members in the event of a vacancy is one of, if not, the most important duties of a central committee. This is a responsibility I take seriously and will continue to do so unless a legislative change is made requiring special elections.
Throughout my six years serving as legislative aide to Senator Justin Ready, I have seen first-hand what it takes to be a successful legislator. In the event of a General Assembly vacancy, I will choose a candidate who is ready to fight for conservative values in Annapolis and shows the professionalism needed to work with the majority party to secure key funding and legislative wins for Carroll County.
I am running for Republican Central Committee in order to continue growing grassroots efforts and promoting conservative messaging across Carroll County. I have been fortunate to be a Carroll County resident my entire life, and I am not willing to let radical leftists take over. Carroll County Republicans need strong leadership to ensure that the future of our county stays conservative.
Carroll County is a Republican stronghold that voters across the state can count on to elect strong conservative leaders. In the event of a vacancy, I will vote for an America-First, pro-faith, pro-family Republican who exemplifies what it means to be conservative. Additionally, I will only support individuals seeking a vacancy who show express interest in using their future incumbency status to run for re-election barring unforeseen events.

No. Special elections can be costly, slow, and often draw a very low turnout. They can also trigger additional special elections when the selected candidates already hold other public offices. This places a significant burden on county budgets and the election infrastructure, ultimately punishing communities. Allowing the Central Committee to appoint a replacement ensures that the seat is filled quickly so constituents continue receiving representation without interruption.
I would prioritize candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to public service, possess a solid understanding of policy and Maryland‑specific issues, uphold unquestionable integrity, and exhibit proven leadership and problem‑solving skills. I would also take public input into account during the selection process.
I want to serve on the Central Committee because I believe in the mission of the Republican Party and want to help strengthen and expand it. With over 30 years of experience as a small business owner and entrepreneur, I bring practical insight and a commitment to supporting strong candidates, engaging voters, and advancing our shared conservative principles. I would be honored to contribute this experience to the Central Committee’s efforts.
I am an active member of my community, and through my businesses and leadership roles at church, I engage with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Understanding the greater community you serve is essential for sound decision-making. Candidates would be chosen based on merit rather than personal preferences or relationships. Transparency is vital to maintaining public confidence and helps minimize any perception of bias. I would welcome and value insights and feedback from constituents.

Maryland law currently directs party Central Committees to fill General Assembly vacancies, and I will follow the law and fulfill that responsibility carefully and responsibly. If the law changes in the future, I will respect and implement whatever process is established.
I would look for someone with experience, integrity, a commitment to Republican values, a strong understanding of the district they will represent and the ability to effectively advocate for constituents are all important considerations.
As the current Chair of the Republican Central Committee and President of the Republican Club of Carroll County, I have helped expand fundraising, voter outreach, and volunteer engagement. I want to continue serving to strengthen our local Republican organization, recruit and support strong candidates, and ensure Carroll County remains a leader in advancing conservative values.
The Central Committee follows a defined process in our bylaws to vet and interview candidates when vacancies occur. We also invite public comment so community members can share their perspectives. This helps ensure the decision is thoughtful, transparent, and made with the best interests of the district in mind.

As a member of the Central Committee my role is to follow and abide by the Maryland State GOP and Carroll County bylaws. I will follow them in the event that a vacancy occurs in the General Assembly.
The state GOP and county bylaws require the candidate meet the constitutional requirements of the Maryland State Constitution to serve in the Maryland Senate or House of Delegates. This means: residing in the district; being voter eligibile; meeting age and citizenship requirements. Upon review of timely received applications, the committee interviews candidates and votes on the most overall qualified applicant based upon all information obtained.
I want to continue to serve on the Republican Central Committee because of my commitment to the community and policies. I am a attorney, mediator, business owner, VP of the Republican Club of Carroll County, Dad's Work's board member, prior 4H board member, and State House legislative intern. I helped raise substantial funds for Republican causes, created scholarships for Republican youth, host media promoting Republican candidates, assist with policies and develop events. I get along with all.
As a current Central Committee member selected by my peers to fill a vacancy, I understand the responsibility of these decisions. I will follow the bylaws and will choose the most qualified candidate who will best serve the Republican platform. My experience as a member of the committee, as well of my other business and life experiences, provides the critical thinking and insight skills to the ensure the appointee holds the proficie needed to be a successful, productive member of the committee.

Yes, I support special elections to fill vacancies in the General Assembly.
Criteria that I will use to choose a person to fill a vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly include: the person must meet the requirements of the Maryland State Constitution. The person should have strong ties to the district they will represent, and their views MUST align with the Republican Party. Also, they need to have the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to perform the role effectively.
My motivation to serve on the Republican Central Committee comes from a deep commitment to the future of Carroll County! I believe our community will remain strong through citizen involvement, support for principled leadership, and collaboration to protect the values that make our county such a great place to live. I love Carroll County and want my son to grow up in a safe, conservative county. I am motivated to Keep Carroll Red!
To ensure that appointment decisions best serve the community's interests when filling a vacant position, it is important to maintain transparency in the process and encourage community input.
No, I do not support special elections for legislative vacancies. Special elections can be costly for taxpayers & often take months to organize, leaving constituents without representation during that time. When voters elect a candidate from a party, they also choose that party’s leadership. Republican Central Committee should appoint a replacement. This respects voters’ choice, ensures continuity, fills the seat efficiently, and avoids the cost and logistical challenges of a special election.
If a vacancy occurs in the MD General Assembly, I will seek a candidate who reflects the conservative values of our district—limited government, fiscal responsibility, constitutional rights, and support for law enforcement and families. I would consider their integrity, qualifications & willingness to serve the community. The person should have a record of involvement in the district, a clear understanding of the issues facing our citizens and ability to effectively advocate for our district.
I want to serve on the Republican Central Committee to help ensure our party represents the values of our community—limited government, fiscal responsibility, support for families, and strong public safety. I want to help recruit and support Republican candidates, guide party priorities, and strengthen our local party organization. I also want to grow grassroots engagement and encourage more Republicans to get involved in local elections and community leadership. Strong local leadership matters.
I would ensure this through a thorough vetting process, including interviews, reviewing each candidate’s record, & evaluating their community involvement. I would also seek input from local leaders & residents. My goal is to appoint someone with integrity, strong qualifications, & a proven commitment to conservative principles who will represent our community effectively & responsibly. I will prioritize candidates who share our Republican values. This I believe, ensures voters’ trust is honored.
