DUTIES: The Register of Wills assists the general public with administrative processes concerning estates of deceased persons. The Register collects Maryland inheritance tax on estates and probate fees; maintains all records of wills and estates of deceased persons, acts as clerk to the Orphans’ Court; tracks estates and refers all delinquent matters to the Court; and safeguards wills of living persons who reside in the county.BASE SALARY: $134,899TERM: Four years, no term limit.HOW ELECTED: Elected county-wide.

My experience has prepared me well for this office. As a certified medical coder, I work with detailed records and strict regulations every day which has taught me the importance of accuracy and accountability. As a former special education teacher, I learned how to advocate for families, communicate clearly, and guide people through complex processes. Lastly, as a high school sports coach, I’ve built leadership skills while working closely with students, parents, and our community.
In addition to being present and accessible, my priorities are simple: provide compassionate service, clear communication, efficient processes, and integrity in everything I do while making sure every family in the community feels supported and respected.
I would like to institute community outreach and education through the office to help those in the community understand why having a will is important, ultimately increasing the level of communication the office has with the community in general.

I have 30 years of consecutive estate experience. I worked 15 years for an estate attorney and the Register of Wills office for the last 15 years. I have held the title of Clerk II, Deputy I, Deputy III, Assistant Chief Deputy, Chief Deputy and I am the current Register of Wills.
To make sure the citizens of Caroline County continue to receive the most accurate professional care, guidance, compassion and respect needed as they face the lose of a loved one.
The policies in this office have been streamlined and have served the residents of Caroline County for decades and I see no reason for any changes in this office at this time.
