DUTIES: The Clerk of the Circuit Court oversees the office that performs many administrative duties for the Circuit Court, including the maintenance of court records. Other duties include recording of deeds and collecting taxes and fees based on property transactions, issuing licenses for fishing, hunting, sales of liquor and marriage. The Clerk also performs civil wedding ceremonies and processes passport applications.SALARY: $143,600 TERM: Four (4) years, no term limit.HOW ELECTED: Every four (4) years by county-wide election.

I bring almost a decade of hands-on experience working within the Maryland Judiciary. I am motivated by a commitment to public service and to ensuring that the court system operates fairly, efficiently, and with integrity. As Clerk of the Circuit Court, I would bring my practical courtroom experience, leadership ability, and dedication to serving the community to ensure the office remains organized, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the judges, court staff, and citizens we serve.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court plays a vital role in ensuring the court system runs smoothly. The office maintains court records, manages court proceedings, issues licenses and permits, collects fees and fines, and records deeds and land records. I believe the public should better understand these services. I will increase awareness through clear online information and a customer-service focused office that helps residents easily access the services they need.
The foundation of strong customer service in the Clerk’s Office has already been built, and I want to continue strengthening it. My focus would be on improving efficiency through clear communication, teamwork, and effective use of technology while ensuring court records and services remain accurate and accessible. I am committed to maintaining a responsive, professional office where the public feels supported and can easily access the services they need.
My top three priorities are integrity, accuracy, and service. Integrity is essential because the Clerk’s Office must maintain the public’s trust while handling important legal records and responsibilities. Accuracy ensures court records, filings, and financial transactions are properly maintained. Service is equally important, as the Clerk’s Office serves the public every day. I am passionate about this work and committed to providing reliable and professional service to our community.
