I have served as the Calvert County District 2 Commissioner since January 2023. Serving as Calvert County Commissioner is more than holding a position- it is the commitment to the people I represent and serve. I bring strong leadership and problem-solving skills developed through years of working in a variety of environments. My motivation comes from a genuine commitment to the community and an innate desire to contribute positively to its future.
I recognize that holding public hearings during traditional work hours can limit participation. Ensuring that all voices are heard is important to me. I would support scheduling public hearings and listening sessions at varied times, to increase accessibility. I would also actively seek feedback from other platforms. I am committed to maintaining an open door approach, encouraging constituents to reach out.
I believe that Calvert County has recently made meaningful efforts toward transparency, however I am not fully satisfied with the current level of transparency. I recommend earlier and clearer communication with plain language, stronger feedback loops, and improved accessibility for all constituents. I believe transparency should be proactive not reactive as transparency is what ultimately builds trust.
In an effort to increase transparency, I have recently requested a staff work session on NDAs and ENRAs. I believe that NDAs should be used sparingly and carefully as to protect sensitive information, not to limit public access to information. I would advocate for policies that ensure NDAs are used responsibly, transparently, and only when necessary.
I believe in smart, intentional growth. My approach to land use is guided by balance - supporting growth where it makes sense, preserving rural character, and making decisions that are fiscally responsible. We have lowered the density rate throughout Calvert County and are in the process of updating the County’s Comprehensive Plan. When discussing growth, it is imperative that we are cognizant of our infrastructure to ensure it can support said growth.
I believe that data centers require a careful, case by case evaluation; not a one size fits all approach. While data centers can offer potential revenue streams, they also raise concerns related to the environment, water consumption, energy use, light pollution, emergency response, infrastructure, and noise. I am not opposed to data centers in principle, but I am opposed to poorly-sited, inadequately reviewed, or taxpayer-subsidized projects. No tax incentives should be given to data centers.
Supporting strong public schools is one of the County’s most important responsibilities, as schools directly impact student success and quality of life in our community. My priorities focus on adequate funding, safe learning environments, and strong collaboration. In the staff recommended budget, we have included six additional School Resource Officers. My priority is to be a strong, informed partner to our public schools so that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Increasing housing affordability for working citizens requires planning, partnership, and balance - supporting attainable housing options while protecting infrastructure, taxpayers, and community character. I’d propose incentivizing newly hired County Government employees to include teachers, deputies, EMTs, and county staff with a down-payment assistance program.
My position on climate change is rooted in responsible planning, environmental stewardship, and fiscal prudence. I believe we could increase charging stations across our county facilities and focus on reducing emissions.
My top 3 priorities - public safety, education, and responsible growth are interconnected. Thoughtful collaboration and planning in these areas help ensure Calvert County remains a safe, strong, and sustainable community for current and future residents. Public safety comes first by ensuring police, fire, and EMS are properly staffed and supported. Education requires stable funding and safe facilities. Growth must be planned with infrastructure and taxpayers in mind to protect quality of life.

I have over twenty years public service with the Baltimore City Fire Department. I have owned and run a small business for over 25 years. I have excellent communications skills.
I have an open door policy weather it be email, telephone or social media. I am always interested in hearing what my constituents have to say. I am always open to comments and any suggestions.
I feel our current board of commissioners are in no way shape or form transparent about anything. If transparency were a consideration of our current board members, they would not have signed NDAs or confidentiality agreements.
I feel that non-disclosure agreements should never be used by public officials as it silences the opinions of the people it serves. I recently testified for a bill in Annapolis to stop the use of NDA's in Calvert County.
I am appalled by the overdevelopment being done in our county. We have vacant shopping centers yet we continue to build new ones
when the infrastructure cannot handle them.

Education for our youth is the key to our future. I feel we as a community should stay in constant contact with our elected BOE. to ensure the best for our children.
One of my main concerns is lowering taxes so that living here in Calvert County can become more affordable to all.
