I am running for the Harford County Board of Education because I care deeply about our schools, our students, and the future of this community. As a mother of nine, I have experienced Harford County Public Schools from many different angles. I bring the perspective of a parent, a substitute teacher, and a volunteer. My background in project management, budgeting, and accountability allows me to ask tough questions, examine facts, and make decisions focused only on student success.
Parents, teachers, and Board members all play important roles. Parents know their children best and should be treated as true partners. Teachers, the professionals in the classroom, deserve support and respect. Board members set the policies, provide oversight, and should ensure the overall system works for the students. Transparency begins with active listening, open communication, and clear expectations. Solutions should focus on what is best for students and their education.
When teachers feel supported through fair compensation, safe classrooms, and ongoing support, they are more likely to feel appreciated and motivated. The Board should work with school leadership to develop consistent discipline policies, reduce unnecessary administrative burdens, and make Harford County a place where talented educators want to stay.
Technology plays an important role in education when used to strengthen instruction, research, and skill development. Personal electronic devices in classrooms can create distractions and interrupt instruction. The Board needs to work with school leadership to develop clear and consistent policies for personal device use during the school day.

I’m running because public education is personal to me. I’ve raised three children in Harford County Public Schools, and I understand the hopes parents have for their children and the challenges our educators face every day. My life has been built around service—through the military, public service, healthcare, and now my community—and I’m ready to use that experience to help every child in Harford County succeed.
I see parents, teachers, administrators, and Board of Education members as one team, all working toward the same goal—doing what is best for our students. When families feel heard, educators feel supported, and leadership is transparent and collaborative, students benefit. I believe the strongest schools are built on trust, communication, and partnership, and as a board member, I will work to bring all voices to the table while keeping students at the center of every decision.
To support staff in Harford County Public Schools, we must focus on recruitment, retention, and respect. That means competitive pay and benefits, strong professional development, mentorship for new educators, safe working environments, and making sure staff have the resources they need. When we invest in our educators and support staff, we invest directly in student success.
I strongly support technology as an educational tool because it prepares students for today’s world and can enhance learning when used effectively. However, technology should support instruction, not distract from it. I believe student cell phones and personal devices should be governed by clear, consistent policies that protect classroom focus, student safety, and academic success.

I seek a seat on the Board of Education to promote equity and support for all students. My experience with nonprofits, combined with being a former free/reduced lunch and ESOL student, gives me a unique perspective. I bring strong communication and collaboration skills and am dedicated to working with families and educators to improve outcomes and create a supportive environment for everyone.
I see parents, teachers, and Board members as vital partners in our education system. Parents offer valuable insights, teachers guide student success, and Board members set policies. To ensure transparency, I will promote open communication, regular updates, and community involvement. For disputes, I will advocate respectful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving to find fair solutions.
I will support educational staff by advocating for competitive pay, professional development opportunities, and a positive work environment. I will promote transparent recruitment and hiring processes to attract diverse, qualified candidates. Additionally, I will work to create policies that foster staff retention, such as recognition programs, mentorship, and support for work-life balance, to ensure our educators feel valued and empowered to serve students effectively.
I believe technology is a valuable educational tool that can enhance learning, engagement, and access to resources. When used effectively, it can support personalized learning and skill development. Regarding students' personal devices, I support their responsible use for educational purposes, while also implementing policies to ensure devices do not disrupt learning or compromise safety. It's important to educate students on digital responsibility.
