I want to serve on the La Crosse County Board because this community has been my home for over 40 years. I have been deeply involved in supporting our county through the schools and local clubs my children have participated in, and that involvement has shaped my commitment to our community. I feel now is the right time to take that passion and step up to the responsibility and opportunity this County Board position offers, serving residents with care, common sense, and accountability.
In my full-time work, I help Veterans obtain the VA benefits they’ve earned, which has shown me how critical these programs are for people in need. My passion is advocating for people who need support. As the cost of living rises, county services must address real community needs while using common sense and prioritizing budget items to maintain lower taxes. I will represent my constituents by listening to their concerns, advocating for effective programs, and ensuring resources are used responsibly and transparently.
A county-wide issue that often goes unrecognized is the lack of clear, consistent communication about county responsibilities and major initiatives - Pathways Home, for example, is a collaborative response between the City of La Crosse and La Crosse County to assist the unsheltered population. Many residents are unaware of its goals, progress, and impact on the community.
I would prioritize transparency by sharing regular updates, listening to constituent concerns, and clearly explaining the county’s role. Strong communication builds trust, accountability, and better outcomes for everyone.
