West Salem School District Board Member

The school board is the legislative body of a school district. The school board adopts the annual school district budget and a strategic plan that includes district goals, initiatives and projects. They are also responsible for policies regarding student learning, curriculum, instruction and assessment, parents and community, and personnel. Voters elect board members to represent their district for a three-year term in nonpartisan elections. There are no term limits.

I've proudly served on the West Salem School Board since 2014. During that time we've made significant improvements in process and policy as well as advancing several building and operational referendum. Our district is well-positioned in the near and long term.
I enjoy helping the district live out our mission statement of "serving with passion to ignite creativity, innovation, and excellence."
Our staff retention rate is consistently in the upper 90s, and we are a destination district due to our excellent programming, student achievement, and our culture. I believe our HR department does a phenomenal job on recruiting and hiring practices.
My role is to promote and support our district, always.
One of the biggest problems for all Wisconsin districts is the uncertainty of state funding, especially as voucher funding continues to dramatically increase.
