Ensuring assistance to all qualified in the township.
I was on the board a few years ago, enjoyed in helping and seeing how we serve the township. I also donated my salary to the food bank as I feel this should be volunteer position to help others in need.
We can only do what our budget allows us to do. This is very important to stay within our budget. There are other organizations that are able to help as well and we can inform all to what is available. And with the Reorganization of Ellettsville and Richland Township, we will be able to serve, financially, better and more families in the township.
We have a lot of information on places for assistance and help, no matter what their needs are at any given time.
I wish it was already in place, it will give the town more power to govern ourselves without interference from the county and for the better service of fire and police protection.

The main responsibilities are to provide poor relief and fire protection for township residents. The trustee is in charge of the daily operations with board oversight.
I feel that it is important to give back to the community. In order for a representative democracy to work people must be willing to serve.
The two main priorities are poor relief and fire protection. We must try and use our funds wisely for this especially with the state laws restricting funding.
This type of relief would fall more into Federal and state responsibilities.
The state has a couple of bills to consolidate some local government functions. Looking into a reorganization of the township and Ellettsville may help comply with the law. At this time, we are just gathering information. If Richland township and Ellettsville move forward with reorganization the voters will have too ultimately approve the reorganization by a majority vote of both the township and town voters. I encourage people to look into this fully and make an informed decision.
