Many of our residents are concerned about the speed at which our community is growing. Our population is increasing, more warehouses are being built, many new apartments are going up, and we are losing valuable green space.

We live in a great community, and naturally more people want to live here. We have a safe environment and a strong school district. However, the warehouses and distribution centers being built—often with tax breaks—are creating challenges for our community. That is why we have an issue for the South Metro Fire Protection District on our April ballot.

While many new apartments are being built, our community still lacks affordable housing options. We need homes that allow people to put down real roots and truly become part of our community. As development continues, we must also preserve green space to maintain the qualities that drew so many of us here in the first place.
Raymore is growing and changing, and we need to make sure we maintain the foundation of who we are. I want to be part of that work. I have been a Social Studies teacher for 28 years, and I have always encouraged my students to get involved in their communities, advocate for the change they want to see, and fight for improvements. Now it’s time for me to take that same step. I want to stand up for the people in my ward and work for meaningful improvements, because change is coming one way or another.
