Cleveland City Mayor (2024-Present)
Incumbent? YES or NO
Yes
The most important issues facing our community is an aging infrastructure and a lack of revenue sources. The city's roads need repaired and our water/sewer distribution system is in need of updates. These projects require large outlays of cash to rectify and with only a few businesses to generate sales tax revenue, we have to try and identify other sources of revenue so as not to tap into reserves to deeply. One option we will look as it implementing a Local Use Tax on out-of-state purchases. Another option is to apply for Federal Grants that will pay a large percentage of the infrastructure projects with the city having to match a small percentage of the funds. By improving our infrastructure it will enable the city to draw more citizens to move to the area which will in turn draw more business to the city. all of which will enable us to stay relevant and thriving as a small town.
I want to help Cleveland remain relevant and thriving as people begin to move out of the urban centers. I want to see Cleveland be a city that people are proud to live in, and inviting to non-residents to come visit and possibly move into. As for my qualifications, I have been a resident of Cleveland for 20 years so I know and understand the populace. I am also the current mayor and have learned a lot about what city government involves during my tenure. The City employees, Board of Alderman, and myself have made great strides over the past two years in updating the city through technology including a brand new city website and a road improvement project that will see our city streets paved with asphalt over the next 5-7 years. It is my hope to continue the work we started!
