Our district is doing extremely well in all honesty. I do not see any major issues that are not already being addressed by the current board.
However, I will say that students have enough to stress about without the added drama of debates over gender policies, additional bathroom designations, and immigration enforcement actions involving schools.
Students are in school to learn. They need to feel safe, protected, and able to focus on their education.
Making everyone happy is impossible. When it comes to policies such as adding gender-neutral bathrooms or requiring specific pronoun usage, my stance is NO. Life is already confusing enough for kids without adding more complexity. We are all human, and we are all American. Treating ALL people with respect and dignity is a requirement that I will support.
I am running because I am going to be the voice for those that do not currently have one. This includes special needs students and their families and also for the wonderful teachers that work so hard helping our kids learn nearly every day.
I am the proud father of three children, two currently in school. I earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science (2004) and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (2002). I have lived in the Northland nearly my entire life and am deeply invested in our community.
Since 2005, I have been actively involved in strengthening education in the Northland. I served as Vice President of New Mark Middle School PTA (2021–2022) and Staley High School PTA Vice President (2024–2025) (2025-2026), and as Falcon Club Membership Chair the last 2 years.
I also served on the original Gladstone Community Center Board, graduated from the Gladstone Leadership Program, and currently sit on a number of various Committees and other community groups.
The current board has done a phenomenal job in regard to the budget and I personally do not see a shortfall that will need to be met in the future.
This is a great question that I will need to come back to answer as I want to respond to the question fully and current time constraints prevent this
I am personally passionate about strengthening early childhood education, supporting special needs students and their families, ensuring safe and secure schools, maintaining fiscal responsibility with taxpayer dollars, and giving teachers the tools and support they need to succeed. I believe in high academic standards, parental involvement, transparent leadership, and preparing students with practical skills that set them up for success after graduation.

North Kansas City School Board Director (2022-2025)
Incumbent? YES or NO
YES
Keeping our budgets intact and safe from state and county legislation changes is important and likely facing more districts than just North Kansas City public schools. I plan to continue to advocate for fully funding our schools at the state and local levels. Our district has seen an increase in enrollment of early education and special education students, and I plan to support our current teachers and staff and the District's need to hire more staff in the coming years, especially for these students. I will do all I can to continue to support our Superintendent and her goals for the District as we work to be Champions for all students and each other.
I had served on the board of our North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation for several years in different capacities, including Chair. I also served on the committee that helped develop the Portrait of a Graduate language and eventually the IEC committee, which developed a plan for the Pathways - where students choose a potential career pathway, and the curriculum in each pathway supports that career choice. I care deeply about our students, their families and opportunities now - and their futures. I served on the Board of Education for the past three years and learned so much during that time. I look forward to serving another term, and welcome the chance to help our students, staff, families and teachers with whatever is next.
Our school district has been looking at the ways in which our funding will be impacted, both at the state level, and the county level as property taxes may be frozen (including bond and levy taxes) for senior citizens. We are prepared and have some cuts planned - even while increasing our hiring in key areas. This is no small challenge, and we will continue to seek ways to rein in spending as possible, and seek support for public education from our elected officials when we can. We will continue to fight the good fight for our students.
Parents and caregivers who are involved and supportive of their students' education make such a huge difference! We welcome family involvement and look for ways to include our community and families in regular activities. We send family surveys home, along with regular communication so they know what to expect, and how to get involved. One of the goals in our coming year is to continue to engage our families and community-at-large in our schools and with our students as much as possible in the coming years. It helps our District when our families and communities are engaged - especially at the ballot boxes.
Our District is very much ahead of the curve when it comes to early childhood education, with our Early Education Center, where we have nearly 2000 three- and four-year-olds enrolled. This is one of our key hiring areas, as we need talented and qualified teachers and staff, and we recognize that parents and families are moving to our District because of the great work happening in the EEC. As a Board Member, I will continue to vote to support the work done in our EEC and do what we can to ensure we are reaching and supporting these youngest of our students.
