What is the most important issue facing your community? How do you intend to address it?
Why are you running for this office, and what are your qualifications?
More affordable housing is needed in Excelsior Springs. I serve on the Excelsior Springs Housing Authority and the Thrive Excelsior Housing Task Force. Changes in our zoning have accomplished providing more housing opportunities. I helped to establish Excelsior Springs as a Community for All Ages while serving on the council from 2012 to 2024. I was involved in establishing a 353 tax abatement program for home owners in neighborhoods in our historic downtown area to help with needed home repairs. I approved a new cottage industry zoning while on the council and will help to encourage infill of lots throughout the city, as well as pre-approved housing plans to help expediate affordable home construction. I care about finding solutions for the unsheltered in our community. (The second most important issue is providing accessible, affordable health care in our rural community. Our hospital is critical to the health and wellness of Excelsior Springs and surrounding rural communities.)
I am running for city council, having served for 12 years prior. I have remained active in the community while I was not on council. I was asked to run again. I am active with the Downtown Excelsior Partnership for tourism, the Chamber of Commerce for business development, am treasurer of the Excelsior Springs Business Women of Missouri, chairperson of the Friends of the Wells which seeks to restore one of our mineral wells for sampling and benefit our tourism, as well as serving on the Housing Authority and Thrive Excelsior committees. I have lived in Excelsior Springs for more than 40 years with my husband, raised my family here and understand that providing safe, well developed neighborhoods are important to our residents.

In conjunction with Community Development the City Council will be moving toward making the minimum of 800 square foot of living space per unit for zoning districts R-1 through R-3. Thus, allowing for more affordable single and multifamily units. Also living areas above retail and service businesses in the downtown area are being utilize as well.
Infrastructure challenges is being accomplished via a long-term comprehensive plan involving road repair and update, treatment of potable water and waste water delivery systems; and storm water runoff. Several different methods are being used in the road repair / repave project as determined by the existing condition of the pavement. A recently completed engineering study is being used as a guide. Waste water and potable water maintenance are being performed in
I am running for office of city council as an incumbent. I believe my back ground in non-residential construction, material and cost management brings a unique perspective to the council. Also, I have a desire to see the completion of several of the projects that are currently in process.
