Qualifications I’m running for Illinois Secretary of State because our state’s largest service agency needs real reform — not business as usual. I want to restore integrity, professionalism, and fairness to an office that affects every Illinoisan every day. I bring real-world experience in party leadership, organization, and public service, not career politics. I was elected twice as 29th Ward Republican Committeeman, where I worked to build grassroots engagement, manage election operations, and represent voters honestly and transparently. I know how to cut through bureaucracy, improve customer service, and demand professionalism at every level. I’m focused on service, integrity, and results — making sure every Illinoisan, especially veterans.

Small businesses and startups are the backbone of Illinois’ economy. As Secretary of State, I believe our office should be both a gateway to opportunity and a guardian against fraud. We can do both — by making it easier for honest entrepreneurs to succeed while making it harder for bad actors to exploit the system.

First, we must streamline the business formation and filing process. Starting a business should not feel overwhelming or buried in red tape. I would modernize our online systems to make registrations, annual reports, and compliance filings simple, clear, and fast. That means improving our website, offering step-by-step digital guidance, and ensuring entrepreneurs can complete most transactions online without unnecessary delays.
If we’re serious about modernizing government, we have to start with a simple principle: convenience for some cannot come at the cost of access for others.

Online services are here to stay—and that’s a good thing. They save time, reduce paperwork, and make it easier for working families to renew a license or register a vehicle without taking a day off. As a candidate for Illinois Secretary of State, I support expanding secure, user-friendly digital services. But modernization must be inclusive. Technology should widen opportunity, not deepen divides. We must maintain strong in-person service.
The Secretary of State should act as a strong guardian of integrity and transparency in government. The office should ensure fair and secure elections, maintain accurate and accessible business records, and enforce clear campaign finance disclosure rules. By making public information easy to access and understand, the Secretary of State helps deter corruption and build public trust. Just as importantly, the office must lead by example—upholding strict ethics standards and promoting openness at every level of government.
Secretary of State and think foreign policy, but at the state level, our job is really about running elections and overseeing business services—not international affairs.

The DMV is the people service governmental service. First, customer service is the most important entities. The appointment process needs to be reviewed and considered removing as it works for some areas and others it does not. This can be a huge problem meeting the demands of customers expectation. I'd like to work with the Unions to review job descriptions and see how we can get more productivity without jeopardy customer service and still remain compliant. Secondly, the need to give service back to the people, by reviewing the budget for waste (and fraud) to reallocate resources to Seniors and Veterans and others who use the DMV. Lastly, make sure our registration for license & voting are pristine focusing on election integrity.
Making it easier and faster to work with for one. Create a small-business dedicated help desk that will guide new entrepreneurs through their filing requirements and partner with local chambers and outside business startup programs to help alleviate the confusion. Also the SOS office can focus on more data security and fraud prevention tools to make sure duplicates and ID thefts are not present. I think small business is the heart of each community and the more collaboration with chambers and other helpful educational business organizations will again, help speed up the process of moving the new entrepreneurs along to starting a new business.
Indeed not everyone is online and even if they are whos to say they are comfortable with the process. We need to make sure the improvement for seniors, disabilities and rural residents are always being monitored for upgrades. Whether on the phone or walk ins we need to make sure they still have accessible options. In the DMV deserts area we can add kiosks and partner with local libraries, community college and other local governmental agencies to help assist the online process. Again, this is a win win as the grant opportunities for these organization can be used to enhance the jobs of assisting the kiosks and we can continue to keep cost down rather than using a full service facility.
The roll of Secretary of State should always work with other governmental agencies to fight corruption and increasing government transparency. Especially during election season, when applications are process for new license, we should be making sure all identification is government related and can be cross check with other agencies to prevent fraud and as constitutional officer, checking for any other non compliant issues. During the business license process, again we need to check for duplication, focus on id theft prevention and investigate legitimate business, again work with other governmental agencies to prevent fraud & corruption. Lastly, mandate annual compliance training, signed, and make sure there's no electioneering.
They get the Il Department of Transportation and Department of Insurance confused with our responsibilities. Also that we're the official record keeper of the states archives and that this is where Illinois's history is kept. They may not know that we do not write legislation but work with legislators to write legislation into office that meets the needs of the SOS's office. They may not know that the cost of fees are regulated through statue and legislation so when they complain of the costs, its not in our hands, however, we can suggest this is a need to better customer service and the needs of the people. Lastly, public not understanding why office is so politized; we're serving the government and not being served by the government.
