I am a Certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in audit, tax, and financial oversight, including work with government entities, nonprofits, and complex organizations. I am a U.S. Navy veteran and have served in leadership roles overseeing public funds, including as President of the Will County Veterans Assistance Commission, where I helped reform financial controls and improve transparency. My background combines technical financial expertise, operational leadership, and a deep understanding of public accountability.
The top issues are transparency, efficiency, and taxpayer trust. Many residents do not clearly understand how their property tax payments flow through the system. I would address this by improving public reporting, modernizing systems for clearer tracking of funds, and ensuring timely, accurate distribution to taxing bodies. I also believe the office should play a stronger role in safeguarding public funds through tighter controls and proactive oversight.
The Treasurer’s office would operate with a stronger focus on transparency, accountability, and service to residents. I would prioritize clear public communication, data-driven decision making, and modern financial practices. Internally, the office would emphasize strong controls, regular reviews, and process improvements. Externally, residents would have easier access to understandable information about where their money goes and how the office protects it.
Will County should make financial information easier to understand and more accessible. This includes plain-language summaries, online dashboards, and regular public forums focused on budgets and taxes. The County should actively invite feedback, not just during formal hearings, but through digital tools and community outreach. When residents understand how decisions affect them, participation and trust naturally increase.

1. Delicate IT infrastructure is always on my mind. The County provides a custom system for levy collections and reporting, and assessments. Options are few and implementing something requires cooperation of other elected officials and several departments. There are few, if any, options as I am aware of other large counties frustrated with their decisions to purchase a program from a vendor. We apply diligent attention to deadlines and duties of our tax cycle partners to assure on time billing, collection, and distribution.
2. Large amounts of cash use by taxpayers is a concern. We continue to offer additional payment options to reduce the risk of large amounts of cash being carried by taxpayers, and held here in the office.

Budget planning is managed in Will County by the Executives office. Elected County Board members handle the planning process with the Executive. Resident engagement opportunities are available to residents directly at the public meetings advertised with that item on the agenda, and indirectly through their elected board members.
