ABOUT THIS OFFICE: The State Representatives in Illinois are members of the Illinois House, which is one branch of the Illinois General Assembly.The state legislature makes state law, passes resolutions, adopts spending bills, and has the power to impeach judges. The Illinois House convenes in Springfield. Each lawmaker must be at least 21 years of age and a resident of the district in which they serve for at least two years. As of the 2020 census, each state representative represents an average of 108,667 residents.
