Natural Resources Commission
{_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}
Five residents are elected to 3-year staggered terms. The Wellesley Natural Resources Commission (NRC) oversees the use, preservation, and protection of the town s parks and conservation areas. The NRC is also responsible for the Town’s public shade trees and tree-planting program. The Commission sets policies for insect control and pesticide use, and helps protect the town watershed areas. The NRC is supported by a small staff, including the Director of Natural Resources. The Wetlands Protection Committee and Trails Committee are appointed by the NRC. The NRC meets twice monthly and at other times as required.

Why are you running for this office? What are your top priorities?
Relevant Experience
Sustainability Committee Chair; Town Meeting Member (Precinct D)
I am concerned about the quality of our air and water as our green spaces continue to shrink. I would love to be more involved in helping the town achieve its climate action plan, as well as helping to preserve the open-spaces so that they can be enjoyed by future generations. I believe that both my background as the chair of the sustainability committee at my children’s elementary school and my role as a committee member in Wellesley’s DEI task force provides me with unique insight for helping Wellesley meet both its development and sustainability goals.
Relevant Experience
Town Meeting member; frequent youth sports and POPS volunteer; attorney.
I’m grateful to raise my family in a town with great parks, and want to be a constructive voice in preserving the Town's natural assets.
A key priority is working with neighbors and boards on strategies to defend our forests from development, including MassBay and the North 40/Morses Pond forest.
I also hope to be helpful on the Morses Pond project. After ten years of study, the project will now go through final design. The NRC must work collaboratively with Rec, PBC, and CPC to achieve the project’s long overdue facility, accessibility, and environmental goals. This project promises to restore the waterfront’s natural character and ensure the park can be enjoyed by all, regardless of age or recreation interest, whether there to swim, paddleboard, hike, walk the dog, fish, or bird watch.
