Will County Board District 1

Will County operates under the County Executive form of government, whereby the County Executive is elected at large and is responsible for the day-to-day administration, and the County Board is the legislative body responsible for establishing policy. It represents unincorporated areas of Will County. As the policy-making body of county government, the Will County Board does touch the lives of residents in important ways. The budgets we establish distribute your hard-earned tax dollars to fund county agencies providing roads, community health programs, courts, police protection, jails, workforce training, victim-witness programs, and veterans assistance, to name a few. We set the budgets for all county agencies and play a key role in transportation issues (including road building and airports), most notably the airport proposed for eastern Will County. We prepare for commercial and residential development by planning for transportation, land use, and zoning while maintaining modern building codes for the protection of the public. I have worked for government entities most of my career. I worked for a U S Congressman for 15 years. I was an elected Trustee in the Village of Channahon and previously sat on the Will County Board. All of these experiences have prepared me to be a representative for the people. I am also a paralegal and have worked in the Will County Treasurer’s office.
I previously sat on the board and have to knowledge base to serve. Also see the above question.
Most significant challenge is how to control traffic so our roads are safe for everyone. The county has paid for several studies over the last 8 years. It’s time to take action and do something with them. Also , taxes need to be lowered and expenditures need to be looked at. Residents’ are hurting and asking for tax relief. I would vote no on raising taxes, would vote to cut budgets and would vote no on raising elected officials salaries.
My district is overrun by trucks. As stated above, the time is now to implement road improvements. We are also seeing data centers and solar panels trying to move in. We need to protect our farmlands and natural resources. All these devices must undergo scrutiny at the local level to make sure our resources are not destroyed.
The key word in the statement above is FEDERAL. I am running for county board which is a local position and cannot decide federal laws.
Ok believe our elected officials should represent us and not be in it for power. I also believe that change can be positive and vow not to stay in office for 20 years the way some do. I always take time to listen to all ideas and am willing to compromise.
