race Brazos County Judge
occupation Retired

(1) responsible spending, holding the line on spending, control debt, and reduce tax burden while protecting essential services. The 2026 budget spent $12 million more in property tax than 2025 and took $95 million from the savings to cover the spending. (2) core infrastructure: roads, drainage, and flood mitigation. Controlled growth by citizen input. (3) public safety and emergency readiness: staffing, training, funding and providing needed equipment. (4) smart growth: clear standards for development in the county and ETJ areas so growth pays its way. Work with both cities to do the same. (5) basic service performance: measurable goals, on-time delivery, accountability and friendly customer service.
Clear and justified decision-making. I will appoint citizen committees to review major issues the public asks to examine, along with reviews of county departments. I will require the staff to post backup documents, use plain-English summaries, and clearly show the why, with cost, risk, and options considered shown and a signed report by the staff member. Expand public comment access (in-person and remote) and publish a running list of action items with deadlines after each meeting. Most importantly, for major items I will appoint a citizen review committee to study the issue, take public input, and produce a final recommendation report to the Court before any vote is taken.
Elections must be secure, accurate, and trusted. Make it easier for voters to vote in person. I support clear chain-of-custody, strong training, and paper ballots. Citizens should be able to observe legally, understand how ballots are handled, and get timely, plain-language explanations when issues arise. I also support practical access: adequate polling locations and staffing, clear instructions, and prompt communication on wait times and locations. Trust comes from competence, transparency and accuracy, not politics.
I will strengthen the Brazos County Health District with stable funding tied to measurable results. I will reshape priorities when major facilities and government expansion consume millions while countywide public health programs remain underfunded. I’ll expand mental health and preventive care because primary care is cheaper than ER-only care. I will help the Health District use targeted outreach to connect uninsured residents to coverage options and assistance programs. I will support proven public health steps that lower costs for everyone: screenings, immunizations, and chronic disease management. The goal for working families is fewer crises, faster access, and smarter use of county resources.
