Constable Precinct 1
I’ve been in Law Enforcement for fiurtu three years locally. This is my fifth term as the elected Constable for Precinct 1. My experience with handling the budget and leading this office has given me the experience to have had a successful office. I also am retired from the Bryan Police Department and worked as an investigator with the Brazos Co. Sheriff’s office for over seven years as well. I’ve also never received an opponent during my terms as the elected Constable. I believe my track record speaks for itself.
We attend not only required training that is mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement but I also have my Personel qualify on the shooting range with their weapons more than what the state requires. They have the appropriated weapons such as shotguns, tactical rifles and are issued body armor. They also just finished qualifying with their new taser’s this last week. Also my deputy’s attend courses in how to de-escalate situations not just physically but verbally. Using psychology and empathy when dealing with citizens in trauma situations as well as mentally disturbed. The last thing we want to do is use deadly force but will if that is the only alternative given us. I want my folks to go home to their families as well.
As mentioned in the previous question. We use what I like to refer to as verbal judo to de-escalate situations. Also using less lethal alternatives such as a taser, pepper spray and of course martial arts, physical restraints etc. as I mentioned the last thing we want to do is use deadly force and won’t use it unless the perpetrator leaves us no other alternative.
