The top priorities facing the County Commissioners’ Court are ensuring transparency in decisions and votes, responsible budget and financial management, balancing the county’s continued growth with sustainable economic development, and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to support our community. Precinct 4 is facing growth concerns with developments at RELLIS campus, and new developments from businesses and real estate community developments. We need active commissioners that show up and put in the work for the future of Brazos County.
Precinct 4 residents deserve a commissioner who puts them first. The fundamental role of an elected official is to represent their constituents, and too often that voice is minimized at the Commissioners Court. My priorities are straightforward: expanding the time citizens have to provide input before the Court, being accessible to residents outside standard business hours through meetings at my VFW office, and holding county departments accountable by requiring clear, public explanations for the decisions they bring forward. Transparency, accessibility, and accountability should not be optional, they should be the standard.
Free and fair elections depend on public trust, which begins with voter integrity and accurate, secure voting systems. The Commissioners’ Court has a responsibility to ensure elections in Brazos County are administered lawfully, transparently, and in a way that every eligible vote is counted properly. I support strong oversight of election procedures, regular testing and auditing of voting equipment, and clear chain-of-custody standards in coordination with Brazos County Elections Administration. Countywide voting offers convenience, but it also raises valid concerns. Precinct-based voting provides clearer accountability. Any system used should prioritize security, accuracy, and public confidence while encouraging lawful participation.
Health care policy is largely outside the county’s control, but the Commissioners’ Court has a responsibility to manage local costs and access responsibly. I support fiscally sound indigent care programs, strong partnerships with local providers, and preventative services that reduce long-term expenses while protecting taxpayers. The Brazos County Health District should be supported in a fiscally responsible way so it can continue serving residents without waste or expansion beyond its mission. Additionally, the new Medical Examiner’s Office will serve Brazos County and the surrounding region, and my priority is ensuring this significant capital investment operates efficiently, delivers high-quality services, and has value for taxpayers
