It is the assessors job to appraise all real and personal property in the county in a fair and accurate manor. Also provide tax payers with information regarding homestead credits and and freezes and to make sure all records are up to date and accurate. The assessor also needs to hold all employees and aprasial companies accountable for there work.
I have worked for the last 10 plus years with a mass appraisal company contracted through the county assessors office. I have been through two reapraisal cycles in johnson county. I have done all the appraisal and new construction for the county in the last four years I work directly with the assessors office so i know what needs to be fixed . I know the county inside and out. I have good communication skills and new ideas to make the assessors office more productive and to better help the taxpayers of johnson county.
I plan to get the employees more training on the real property side of things we need to be able to answer all questions in that office and not send them to the other offices to get help when its our job to help them and fix the problems they may have. To many times the taxpayers are getting sent somewhere else just to end up back in the assessors office were they should have been in the first place. I feel that all employees including the assessor should be trained to work all aspects of the office. I think working with the quorum court to insure the training is in the budget for the assessors office and working with the employees in the office we can insure the right changes will be made.
