The President of Council is elected to a 2-year term. The duties of a President of Council include all the regular duties of a city council member, including enacting ordinances and resolutions, setting public policy, managing the city s finances, establishing employment positions and salaries for city employees, controlling village budgets, and confirming mayoral appointees. In addition, the President of Council presides over all meetings of the city council and appoints and coordinates the work of council committees.
