MAYOR - CITY OF RITTMAN

The City of Rittman, Ohio was settled in 1817. The City of Rittman operates under a Mayor-Council-Manager form of government. This form of government was established by the Charter of the City of Rittman in 1960.The Mayor is elected by the people every 4 years, and presides over council meetings, and is the official head of the Municipality for all ceremonial purposes.The daily city operations are the responsibility of the City Manager.Key Responsibilities of the Rittman Mayor:Presiding Over Council Meetings: The Rittman mayor is the president of the City Council and presides over all its regular and special meetings.Chief Executive Officer: The mayor serves as the chief executive and conservator of the peace within the city.Enforcing Laws: They are responsible for seeing that all laws and ordinances are enforced.Recommending Legislation: The mayor recommends measures, such as ordinances and resolutions, to the council for adoption.Financial and Future Needs: They keep the council fully informed about the financial condition and future needs of the city.Calling Special Meetings: The mayor can call for special meetings of the City Council.Appointing Personnel (Limited): The mayor has the power to appoint competent persons to examine departmental affairs and report to the council.Signing Official Documents: The mayor signs various commissions, licenses, permits, and other instruments as required by law or ordinance.Acting as a Tie-Breaker: In the event of a tie vote in the council, the mayor can cast a vote to break it.

1. Getting a pharmacy in Rittman I will seek out another Pharmacy that could come to Rittman

2. Fix the Roads Tighten the belt to look at ways to spend the money to fix the roads

3. Bringing more business into Rittman Work with revitalization of the downtown business fronts and bring more people into the downtown area
