Growth in our surrounding areas of Intel, Data Centers, and Housing Development. Environmental issues of special concern are water and sewer rights, and clean soil and water. Growth of our community and school systems will continue to need to be addressed with emphasis on maintaining the historical character of our Village and community, and developing our tax base so that we are not overly dependent on property taxes to fund our schools. As a downtown business owner and a mother of 4 children raised K-12 here, I have a keen awareness of what makes our community special.
I bring a lifetime of work experience in a large corporation in all aspects of management - personnel, budget, and technical development. I have worked in the ministry in our local churches as well as Columbus and have community empathy, consideration, and appreciate the value that our many churches in Granville bring to our community. I am strongly ecumenically minded and aware of the uniqueness of our founding and history with regard to our churches and their properties. As an incumbent, I have spent the last 4 years learning about and becoming informed on our environmental issues. Some are complex, especially with water and soil. I have attended many planning meetings, workshops, and community forums with regard to these issues. There are many layers and I am glad to be as up to speed as possible. Our Council has fortunately been a good working group in that we are able to engage in civil discourse with regard to many issues and that enables us to move forward without conflict.
We have many families in our community and I think that we need to continue to develop more multi-generational places for children and families to be together. I hope that we can move forward with the development of a public pool and more community space. I hope that our downtown business community can continue to be charming and shop-able for local people as well as visitors. I contribute directly to this effort as a downtown business owner. And as a co-founder of the Granville Center for the Arts, I have directly contributed to creating such a space - it is free, family friendly, and brings in diverse visitors to our community to shop, eat, and enjoy. And we must continue to develop and broaden tax revenue sources so that we are not only dependent on our property taxes for our schools.

Financial work for Construction Company. Manage a recreational facility in summer.

I have been a member of Council since December of 2001, Mayor since December of 2005. My business and construction background has helped make sound financial and future planning decisions for the Village.
One of our immediate challenges is protecting our finite water resource, ensuring those resources for generations to come and also protecting the aquifer from future pollution due to new waste water facilities and movement of existing pollution plumes. You only pollute your water supply one time, the damaging effects can impact a community for multiple generations.
Protecting the integrity and quality of our school system through strategic work at the state level while planning for appropriate growth and housing that does not overburden our taxpayers and school funding. For example, working toward permanent solutions for unwanted annexations of properties in the school district by other municialities to exploit our education system.
Working with the Granville Township on furthering our Joint Economic Development District in ways that can stabilize and reduce the burden of property taxes on residents and shift burdens to the business and commercial side.
Granville has been facing generational change since the Intel announcement occured a few years ago. Personally, I have participated in county wide planning, meetings with other jursidictions and working toward common goals that preserve our way of life while understanding change will occur. Understanding and knowing what is at stake for Licking County and Granville is of utmost importance. Building partnerships with other jurisdictions has and will continue to be a priority.
My experience on Council and as Mayor has provided an understanding of many of the complex issues we have faced in order to work toward solutions. Also, my experience in the construction business for over 32 years provides a deep understanding of finances, building projects and the long term impacts they can have on communties.
What I would like to see happen for Granville is that the Village and Township remain in control of their own destiny in regard to water and sewer. Too many external organizations and entities want to build their own new kingdoms by robbing resources from not only Granville but our neighbors as well. Completing the tasks that protect and preserve Granville as well as our neighbors is at the top of the list.
Working on JEDD partners with the Township to add economic development on the Route 16 cooridor will be important to relieve the pressure of property taxes on our residents.
Maintaining our solid financial positions while keeping up with road paving and other maintenance needs within the Village.
Expanding partnerships with other neighboring Villages, Cities and Townships for common goals and county planning.

With looming economic development surrounding Granville as well as future increase in student population in our school system, it's important for Granville to welcome and embrace sensible economic growth that will diversify our taxes. We have the opportunity to strategically add more services and businesses that satisfy the needs and wants of our community.
Our historical landscape must be preserved! We, as a governing body and community, have the responsibility to maintain Granville's unique character and respect the historical values that have made us who we are today - and for generations to come!
Community Centers may be a great asset, however, burdening residents with more tax is not. We must thoughtfully consider other less costly options (i.e. utilize and expand the use of current Granville properties).
Improve infrastructure - Newark-Granville Rd. trail improvement, more bike-friendly roadways, left-turn lanes, sidewalk improvements, ensure water/sewer is sustainable.
My family and I moved to Granville in 1971. I've been connected to this town that I love so much for 55 years! I was very fortunate to have a highly successful career in advertising and marketing in Chicago which has proven to be super helpful especially now that I've changed course in a more community-minded role. Since returning to Granville, I've been appointed to the Tree & Landscape Commission - we are dedicated to maintaining our natural beauty and Granville's status as a Tree City USA. I've also been appointed to the Granville Area CIC (Community Improvement Corporation) where I now serve as Board President - our mission is to help encourage and advance economic growth and development in the Granville area. We work along side Granville stakeholders - Village, Township, GEVSD, Granville Area Chamber of Commerce, and Denison University. As part time Administrative Associate for the Licking County Foundation, I'm in tuned to county-wide initiatives and focus.
I'd like to see Granville become more welcoming to those who'd like to bring sensible economic development to Granville. Our passion to preserve our history is extremely important, however, we must be reasonable about allowing businesses that will provide revenue to help offset our taxes, contribute to infrastructure improvements, provide more job opportunities, and bring more services and conveniences to our residents. Data processing centers, warehouses, and major housing developments are NOT what I'm talking about. I'd rather we bring in research & development businesses, additional health services, retail (such as a hardware store), more options in grocery, variety in restaurants (would love to see an upscale option), and entertainment/sporting venues.

Former Village of Granville, Mayor, Vice Mayor and council member
Help maintain sensible growth and the Village quality of life while working to keep taxes from rising.
I feel my education and work experience combined with formerly being on Granville Village Council, and serving as Granville’s Vice Mayor for two years and the Mayor for two years will give me the background and vantage council needs to look at and address issues facing the Village.
I would work with the council, the Village Manager, the residents, Township Trustees and neighboring communities in addressing issues facing the Village while following the current community Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. Also, work with the council, Village staff, community members and the Township Trustees looking to see where items in the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code might need to be updated.

Chief Architect, CACI – Leading global, multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Work experience/qualifications (60 words)
20+ years leading engineering teams solving complex problems around the world. Inventor with 25+ patents. Skilled in strategic planning at national and organizational levels. Chief Architect at CACI, former Battelle director, and current Granville Historical Society board member.
Granville faces several important challenges involving outside development. All require thoughtful and proactive leadership. The most pressing include ensuring water security, protecting air quality, preserving green spaces, and guiding development in ways that promote long term environmental sustainability. Granville needs a cohesive strategy that addresses growth while protecting our natural resources. By prioritizing clean water, healthy air, and the preservation of open land, we also maintain the unique character, culture, and aesthetic that make Granville special. Ground up, this approach naturally supports local businesses and helps address traffic congestion by keeping growth balanced and community centered. These challenges are not separate but connected, and by focusing on sustainability first we create a thriving, resilient village that protects its resources while fostering economic vitality and maintaining the quality of life for residents.
I bring 20+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges across industries. That work demanded innovation, collaboration, and long-term planning, skills directly applicable to Granville’s needs. My MBA provides the financial discipline to oversee budgets and ensure responsible growth. Beyond my career, I serve locally on the Granville Historical Society board, modernizing IT services and strengthening connections within our community. These combined experiences prepare me to balance vision with practicality while working with Council to address growth, infrastructure, and resource protection.
My goal is to strengthen the heart of the villiage by designing a community space that is more than just a building. Whether it becomes a physical center or other facility, it will serve as a hub that connects our trails, bike paths, parks, and green spaces while preserving additional land for the future. This innovative multi use design will strengthen Granville’s identity by balancing preservation with opportunities for gathering, recreation, and connection. At the same time, it will draw residents and visitors into the village in ways that directly support our existing local businesses by encouraging people to shop, dine, and spend more time in town. Strengthening our business district not only enriches daily life but also increases tax revenue to help offset the costs of essential amenities. In this way, Granville can preserve its character while ensuring a thriving and healthy community for generations to come.
