Etna is right in the middle of Licking County’s rapid growth, and we see it most with housing and infrastructure. Roads, utilities, and schools are being stretched thin while new developments move in, and too often the costs fall on residents instead of being shared fairly with developers. My focus is to put infrastructure first. Before approving new housing or business projects, we need clear agreements that roads, water, sewer, and schools are ready. Developers should be asked to contribute their fair share to schools, fire, and sheriff services, and those commitments should be in writing so they can be enforced. Growth can be good if it is managed the right way. If we ignore it, traffic gets worse, services get stretched, and taxes go up. If we handle it with planning and fairness, Etna can grow stronger with good businesses, stronger schools, and safe neighborhoods. My goal as trustee is to make sure we follow the right path forward.
I have lived in Etna since 2020 and work as a substitute teacher in our local schools, where I see firsthand how growth impacts kids, families, and neighborhoods. My degree in criminal justice from Ohio University taught me accountability and fairness. In the classroom and community I’ve learned patience, listening, and problem solving, and I know how to make complex issues easy to understand. As trustee I will not micromanage or act like one voice rules over all. Everyone deserves to be treated as an equal, and I will work with residents and fellow trustees in a fair, balanced way. I am not a career politician, I am a neighbor who shows up, works hard, and puts people first.
The best way to build trust is to keep people informed. I support posting financial reports, project updates, and a public scorecard that tracks developer promises. I will also push for a TIF tracker so residents can see where tax dollars are going and what benefits are being delivered. Meetings should be easy to watch, so I will work toward live streaming them regularly across different platforms, or finding a single solution where everyone can tune in. I will also hold open forums where residents can ask questions and get straight answers. When people see clear numbers, watch decisions being made, and feel heard, they know their best interests are being put first.
Yes, agricultural land and green space are a concern in Etna. As more projects move in, open land disappears quickly, and once it is gone it does not come back. Green space matters for families, for quality of life, and for keeping Etna from turning into endless pavement. I will not push for higher density because that would erode the rural nature of our township. By using the comprehensive land use plan as our guide, I believe we can welcome growth while still protecting farmland and open space. Smart planning allows us to add new homes and businesses while keeping the rural way of life that makes Etna special.
The main improvement I want to bring is trust through transparency and restoring basic respect to how our township is run. Too often when people hear Etna, they think of dysfunction, and residents are tired of it. I want people to hear Etna and feel pride, not frustration. I will work to make information open and easy to see, with tools like a public scorecard, a TIF tracker, and regular live-streamed meetings. Just as important, I will treat residents and fellow trustees with fairness and dignity. Etna should be a place people are proud to live, work, and raise a family, and that is the standard I will set as trustee.

Our township is under constant pressure from developers that want to challenge our current zoning requirements and increase our density on new housing in our community.

Many of our township’s current issues (especially with traffic flow) have been caused by poorly planned development. We need to research any potential positive and negative impacts on future development prior to any approvals or construction. I believe developers that want to come to Etna should expect to be responsible for infrastructure improvement necessary for their projects and as an elected Trustee, I will work hard to make that happen.
My personal life and professional career has revolved around teamwork which is 100% what the office of the Etna township trustees need right now!

I spent 14 years of my life playing football in school and college. Every team I was a member of and each game I ever played presented new challenges to overcome. It will take new trustees that will develop a good plan to prepare for the future and be able to adapt to any unforeseen challenges that may come up along the way.

Over the last four years, I have been actively attending almost every Etna Township Trustee meeting in person. There is no one else in this race that has attended more water board, school board, fire board, zoning, board, and county commissioner meetings to know more about what’s going on in our community than I have. I have also taken trustee-level classes under the Ohio Township Association to prepare myself for the role and so I can step in on day 1 so I can make a positive difference.
Our township currently struggles to reach all the residents because of the limited communication tools they currently use. My plan would be to start by updating the township’s website and make it easier to use. Then I would like to install a meeting live streaming and archive system so residents can watch the meetings at their convenience if they cannot attend a meeting in person.

Then we could integrate an Etna Township Facebook page, YouTube channel, mobile phone app, resident email announcement list, and the township phone system to give residents many ways to communicate with the township and help add ways more ways for people to receive communications from the township.
Many residents have said that they are worried about what type of development is coming and if Etna’s future development will make our community unrecognizable in the near future.

I volunteered to be a member of the Etna Township comprehensive plan committee. During my time on that committee, I learned that there are many ways that a property may be developed and some of the ways that can be developed responsibly so it can complement the surrounding communities. The pressures of development will certainly have an impact on any remaining farm land in Etna Township. My duty as trustee would be to balance the rights of property ownership with the effect of development to our community.
The Etna Township Trustees desperately need to change the culture and create a positive atmosphere where the trustees will work together and the township can rebuild the staff with experienced professionals that will serve the residents with efficiency and pride.

I truly believe that I provide a positive culture to the Etna township administration and staff that will build a team atmosphere and improve how the township will provide quality serve to the residents of Etna.

Education (30 words) Accounting and Business Management; Special certifications in building envelope inspection
Current job (10 words) Building Envelope Inspector and Consultant for the last 23 years
Work experience/qualifications (60 words) Former corporate tax accountant and owner of a commercial construction firm; 23 years leading a building-envelope consulting practice. Etna Township Trustee, past West Licking Fire Board member, neighborhood civic association president. Organized—and won—the 2021 referendum stopping high-density dev

Licking County’s growth brings opportunity, but unmanaged density threatens Etna’s rural character, schools, roads, and fire/EMS. Our 2011 plan called for low density; it was eroded by high-density rezonings and warehouse creep. In 2021 I led—and voters passed by 78%—a referendum rejecting high density. Yet a “6–8 month” plan update is now in year three, while some push 250%+ density hikes. My approach: keep truly low base densities; favor conservation design with permanent open space; limit PMUD rezonings; and require infrastructure concurrency. Any rezoning must prove capacity for roads, schools, water/sewer, and fire/EMS, include developer-funded improvements, and show a positive fiscal impact. Coordinate with schools to avoid overcrowding and with West Licking Fire to maintain response times. Hold the line on warehouse encroachment and enforce operating conditions. This is not anti-growth; it’s pro-community—welcoming lower-density homes that fit Etna and keep taxpayers protected.
With 6+ years engaged in installing proper township administration— first as an involved resident and now as a trustee—I bring steady, results-driven leadership. My background in accounting and building-envelope inspection equips me to practice rigorous due diligence: define the problem, gather facts and options, analyze costs and risks, and choose the sound course. I’m thoroughly engaged with our community, so I know residents’ priorities and reflect them in policy. I’ve shown I can work productively with boards and staff on difficult issues—such as resolving the fire district’s health-insurance matter—by learning what’s needed, weighing alternatives, making timely decisions, and then implementing them with accountability. That is true leadership.
I’ll increase informed engagement by making information easy to access, timely, and neutral. I’ve repeatedly pushed to live-stream every Township meeting and archive recordings so residents can watch on their schedule. I brought in the Diligent agenda/minutes system in 2024 to deliver fast, searchable access to agendas, packets, minutes, and supporting documents—true transparency and efficiency. While full implementation has been delayed by other trustees, I’ll bring forward the votes, policies, and training to finish the job and keep residents continuously informed. We should also maintain an official Township social-media presence posting factual updates and links only—no commentary. Equally important, I’ll enforce Ohio public-records law: acknowledge requests promptly, provide documents on time, and proactively publish frequently requested records.
I agree. Agricultural land and green space are core to Etna’s identity, and residents affirmed that in 2021 when 78% rejected high-density rezoning and pushed to follow our 2011 Comprehensive Plan. The clearest way to preserve our rural character is to keep land in farming and protect open space. Not every farmer wants to sell; we should support them with tools like conservation/farmland-preservation easements that secure long-term agricultural use. On development, keep densities low and require truly usable open space—fields, stream buffers, woodlots, and connected greenways. I’ll prioritize a townshipwide trail/path network that links neighborhoods, parks, and schools for safe walking and biking. The goal is simple: protect the landscape that makes Etna special, guide growth to fit our capacity, and resist “Columbus-style” sprawl. We should be Etna—rural, green, and livable—for the next generation.
The main improvement I hope to achieve is professional, accountable administration. That means issues are handled on time, staff are properly hired, supported, and supervised, and our team has real workstations and offices—not a 4-foot folding table. I will implement a master calendar so deadlines aren’t missed; finalize a clear procedures manual so operations continue smoothly when someone is absent or leaves; and modernize our tools—digital records, agenda/minutes software, task tracking, and basic workflow automation—so we stop operating like it’s 1990. We’ll set service standards (response times, permit turnaround, records fulfillment), publish simple dashboards so residents can see progress, and train staff to those standards. With a competent administrator culture, residents get faster answers, cleaner records, better customer service, and a township that runs efficiently regardless of personalities or politics.

Education (30 words) Post-graduate work towards Ph.D in Leadership/Organizational Change; Masters Public Admin; BS Technical Education; AAS Fire Protection Technologies
Current job (10 words) TIBA Parking Systems - Eastern US Service Manager
Work experience/qualifications (60 words) 30 year veteran of the Fire/EMS field, 16+ years as Fire Chief/Administrator; 11 year veteran of the Army - National Guard; 20 year President/Owner of a consulting firm specializing in Public Safety & small/medium government agencies
The amount of population growth and economic growth has been tremendous. These two areas have affected Etna Township in every way possible. Additional development, both residential and commercial, have strained every government service: Schools; EMS/Fire/Police; Sewer/Water; Electric/Gas; Roadways.

Two things that can greatly impact addressing the issues mentioned above are the Township’s Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Regulations. I would work to ensure these two areas reflect what our citizens want for our community and ensure they are followed or enforced.

The Twp can affect areas that they have direct control through appointments to boards such as: Water/Sewer District; Fire District; Zoning Board; Board of Zoning Appeals; etc. I would work to ensure that qualified and dedicated individuals appointed and hold them accountable for updating elected officials and residents.
I have been a public servant, in one capacity or another, since 1984 when I started as a volunteer firefighter. I served in a public safety role within Fire/EMS agencies for 30 years, the last 16 as a career Fire Chief/Administrator. I have experience budgeting (both capital and operating), personnel management, collective bargaining, strategic planning, and master planning. Most recently, I have served as a member of the Etna Township Board of Zoning Appeals for the last year.

I also have a strong private sector background and currently oversee a major division for my company that covers half of the United States. I have been a small business owner for the last 20 years providing consulting and training services to public safety agencies and small government entities. Those services include operational audits, public records compliance, budgeting, recruitment and retention, promotional centers, and executive recruitment.
People consume information differently. We have a very diverse community and therefore I believe they way in which our Township government distributes and collects information should be diverse. The township must engage in distributing information to residents utilizing printed materials, electronically distributed materials, a robust website, social media, and live streaming of trustee meetings, and board meetings. The largest compliant that I hear from residents is the hostile and toxic environment that lingers within the Twp’s operations. One of the most important things I will push for is timely communications using all forms of media to engage with citizens in a honest, transparent, respectful, and professional manner. I will also work to bring back decorum and professionalism to Twp operations, which I believe will increase citizen engagements. People are tired of the negativity and toxicity that currently exists.
I strongly believe that agricultural land and green space and essential components of our community. I don’t believe many of our residents chose Etna Township in hopes that these two natural resources would rapidly disappear. The issue of the decreasing availability of agricultural land is a national problem. Locally, it is a large issue. The amount of agricultural land that has disappeared over my 16 years as a resident is astonishing.

Green space is also very important. I am a proponent of the Township securing land for natural green space barriers to developments or requiring developers to provide green space. Likewise for parks and recreational areas. I would like to see a more aggressive approach by the Township with regard to parks and recreational opportunities.
One of the main improvements I would like to complete during my term is to rebuild trust and confidence in our Township’s leadership and operations. From my viewpoint, our leaders have lost focus on what should be the primary focal point: The Customer (both internal and external). Because of the collective inability, as a whole, of our elected officials to work as a cohesive team, our residents and employees have suffered greatly. The efficient and timely operation of our township has been delayed or stalled by conflict and turmoil.

I want to work to build a professional environment where elected officials interact in a professional manner with each other, Township employees, Township Board members, surrounding communities and residents. I want to work towards the focal point being what is in the best interest of our community and how do we efficiently and effectively get there.

Current job (10 words) Retired; Current Etna Township Trustee
Work experience/qualifications (60 words) Worked in leadership and technology in Government for over 30 years
Economic development in Etna Township has centered on industrial parks, attracting giants like Amazon, FedEx, and Kohl's, which have created thousands of jobs and boosted local revenue through mechanisms like Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDDs).

With regard to transportation, Intel's facility will boost volumes on roads, spilling over to Etna. Congestion poses safety risks, while limited public transit leaves many reliant on cars, inflating costs (average owners spend $875 annually on avoidable travel).

Opportunities abound in multimodal planning such as i) the LaunchLCA plan, aiming to cut daily travel time by 13,000 hours through density-focused development, saving $71 million county-wide; ii) expanding bus routes (11,000 riders this year) and bike paths, funded by federal grants like the $5 million for Intel impact studies; and iii) supporting projects like the I-70 to SR-161 connector.
I bring a robust background in public administration and government service to my role as Etna Township Trustee. Having already served one successful term as Trustee, together with a Master of Public Administration and 30 years experience in state government, serving in various IT and infrastructure positions with escalating responsibilities across Ohio departments, I i) created and maintained a safe, secure and professional work environment for township employees; ii) secured $2.6 million from MORPC for the transformative Pike Street Project; iii) advanced the Refugee Road Pataskala/Etna Project, contributing to regional infrastructure improvements; and iv) finalized the Purchase of the New Etna Township Community Park, acquiring over 100 acres for public use, just to name a few accomplishments.

In my new term, I want to complete the Pike Street Project, complete the Etna Community Park and install sidewalks along Columbia Road to protect children and residents safety.
As an Etna Township Trustee seeking re-election, increasing citizens' informed engagement is at the core of my service—I've always believed government works best when it's accessible, transparent, and responsive to everyday people.

Drawing from my 30 years in state government and my door-to-door campaigning that got me elected in 2021, here's how I'll build on that foundation if re-elected: i) continue one-on-one in-person engagement meeting to hear from residents directly; ii) continue proactive outreach to build trust through personal door-knocking and engagement; iii) support accountability through collaboration, focusing on common-sense solutions; and iv) support regular, inclusive community forums.
I absolutely agree that preserving agricultural land and green space is a pressing concern in Etna Township, especially as we navigate this unprecedented growth spurt. With our population pushing toward 20,000 and major projects like Intel's facility drawing in thousands of new residents and workers, the pressure on our rural character is real.

Farmland here isn't just about crops —it's the backbone of our heritage, water quality, and even flood control. Losing it to unchecked sprawl could mean higher taxes for sprawling infrastructure and diminished quality of life for families who chose Etna for its open fields and trails. From my view as a Etna Trustee, I've seen firsthand how development proposals, like solar farms, pit economic gains against long-term preservation. Our Zoning Commission has grappled with this balance in recent meetings, canceling hearings when developers couldn't align with community input on protecting prime soils. I will continue to support green space.
Securing meaningful progress on the Pike Street Project and the Etna Township Community Park stand out as my top priorities for this term, because they directly tackle mobility, safety, and quality of life in ways that will serve our growing community for decades.

As someone who's knocked on hundreds of doors listening to residents' frustrations with traffic and the need for more gathering spaces, these aren't just projects — they're investments in the Etna we all envision—connected, vibrant, and rooted in our history.

The Pike Street Project will be a game-changer for our main corridor, transforming a congested stretch into a safer, more pedestrian-friendly route with rebuilt pavement, curbs, gutters, lighting, crosswalks, and multi-use paths. The 100+ acre Community Park will give Etna a world-class public park. These twin wins will amplify each other—while aligning with our Comprehensive Plan.

I'll keep rallying grants and partnerships to stay on track.

Education (30 words) Working toward a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, gaining expertise in compliance, risk management, and protecting systems and data.
Current job (10 words) Full-time student in Cybersecurity and stay-at-home mom
Work experience/qualifications (60 words) Professionally, I served as a Business Process Analyst specializing in compliance and controls, with a career focused on evaluating operations, identifying risks, and implementing solutions that improve efficiency and accountability. I currently serve on a JEDD Board and as Chair of the BZA.
Etna Township is directly impacted by the rapid growth in Licking County. Our roads were not built to handle the current load, let alone thousands of additional cars. Schools are already overcrowded, and our utilities and water systems are stretched thin. Approving more homes without addressing these challenges only worsens the strain. As Trustee, I will push for a solid infrastructure plan before approving further development, ensure developers share in the costs, and prioritize responsible, transparent growth that protects residents while preparing for the future.
I bring professional expertise as a Business Process Analyst, specializing in compliance, controls, finance, and cybersecurity. My career has focused on evaluating operations, identifying risks, and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and accountability. Locally, I serve on the JEDD Board and as Chair of the Board of Zoning Appeals, where I’ve earned the trust of elected officials to lead fairly and responsibly. These roles have given me direct experience with governance, transparency, and balanced decision-making. Combined, my professional skills and proven community leadership uniquely prepare me to serve Etna Township with integrity, responsibility, and vision.
I will ensure agendas, minutes, and notices are posted online and on social media so residents don’t have to rely only on newspapers. I’ll keep communication simple and accessible, listen to residents’ concerns, and use surveys and forums to guide decisions. My priority is making sure every resident has the opportunity to stay informed and engaged.
Yes, agricultural land and green space are issues of concern in Etna Township. Rapid development has already placed pressure on our roads, schools, and utilities, and we cannot afford to lose valuable farmland and open space without a plan. Preserving green space is critical for quality of life, managing growth responsibly, and maintaining the character of our community. As Trustee, I will support balanced development that protects farmland, ensures infrastructure keeps pace, and safeguards the future of Etna for families and residents.
The main improvement I hope to achieve is strengthening Etna’s foundation by putting proper staffing, policies, and procedures in place. Without these, projects stall, records are disorganized, and taxpayer dollars are wasted. By building strong operations first, we can close out unfinished projects, plan infrastructure responsibly, and ensure future growth benefits residents while keeping our Township accountable and transparent.
